What an eye opener Oh my goodness. We went to the pumpkin patch tonight, haven't been in years. Tell the kids pick out what they want, I mean, how much can a pumpkin be. I seen them at the grocery store and they seemed inexpensive. So for three pumpkins all three different sizes, how much do you think they costs?? Oh yeah, take a guess! |
3 pumpkins.......... about $26.00????? That is my guess......... they are usually high at the pumpkin patches (especially if you pay by the pound). |
Higher! |
Lol, this is not the cost effective way to buy pumpkins. They're pretty cheap at Walmart, but even regular grocery stores seem expensive now. I would guess you paid $50.00 if they weren't too big, you bought an "experience" not a pumpkin, it's something the kids will remember for years, (and so will you.) Maybe one of your kids will become writers and we will see a "A Halloween Story" similar to "A Christmas Story" in future years where mom goes nuts at the price of pumpkins. |

And your guess was right on point. It was $47 and he threw in a carving tool and book ;) |
Holy Cow! Next summer I'm planting pumpkins!!! Then I'm taking a cruise ;) |
Tammy can you believe it! I was pulling out a $20, ended up having to put in on my atm card....I do like Nancy's idea of A Halloween Story. I just told my husband and he agrees that is a really good movie idea. Of course you could follow it up with A Thanksgiving Story  |
Wow, that's crazy! I got a nice looking medium sized pumpkin at WalMart for$3.50. |

Oh my goodness girl, that's ridiculous! BUT, now you have the memory, like Nancy stated. I saw the pumpkins at Wal-mart for $4.99 ea and they were pretty pumpkins too :P |

But it was for the kids. I told them next year we should give Walmart a try  |
We got 2 pumpkins at the patch today and had to do the same thing, pulled out a $20 and then took out the atm card. $24 for just 2 pumpkins! There were no signs anywhere to tell the price, just let your kids have fun picking one out and give you a big shock when time to pay. we were totally annoyed and certainly have better things to pay for. I went to the grocery store later and saw pumpkins for $6 there... |
I am soooo glad that I saw your posts. That was my big idea for a family outing tomorrow. We usually go with the school each year and for a hay ride and a pumpkin it\'s usually $5.00. But with budget cuts the school isn\'t taking any field trips this year. I think I will skip it this year and go straight to Walmart. I will take the kids Roller Skating instead. |
Lets see $47 vs 3.50? Heck take the corn stalks and put them around the box of pumpkins at walmart and pretend they are in the pumpkin patch lol. But I do like Nancy\'s idea that you gave the kids the experience and the rest will be remembered forever. I bet they had a wonderful time there. |
