When to add furbaby #2 This is a premature question, as I have not gotten my first furbaby yet. I am still in the learning stage, and have been lucky enough to find YT before blindly buying my baby. I have been here a short time, and one of the many things I have learned is, yorkies are like chips...you can't have just one. So, I'm curious to know, how long should you wait to get another? Does it really make a difference? Angie |
When your done with potty training the first. I think it's so hard if you have to do two at the same time. I got Toby when Zoey was about 10 1/2 months. |
I only waited a month LOL |
I waited 1 year from my oldest two, the potty training of the first one is the hardest, after the second, third, and fourth:D they seem to take after what the others do, so potty training was a piece of cake. After the first two I then waited 2 years for my third and then 1 1/2 years for my fourth, yes they are just like potato chips:D Jackson:aimeeyork Gracie:aimeeyork Tucker:aimeeyork Rosey:aimeeyork |
Thank you for your responses. |
I have a 5 yr old that I got 10 months ago and next month will be getting a 5 month old puppy yes Yorkies are definitely like Lays potato chips you can't eat just one! But although I have a 5 yr old yorkie (this is how things just worked out) If I had a choice I would get them closer in age to one another maybe a 6 month to a year age difference. I think it helps when they are both in the puppy stage together, but as another post said, do yourself a favor and let the first one be housetrained first. (or close to it for Yorkies because they are harder to train anyway!! When are you getting your yorkie? |
I say jump right in and get two!!! LOL I feel the more the merrier! :D |
Zenzele- As I said right now I'm learning. I'm hoping to get her in Feb. I 've been researching breeders, and thought I found one. Well someone just posted some not very nice things about her yesterday. So now I'm back searching again. I never dreamed it would be this difficult. Breny- No way can I jump in and get two. I'm really nervous just thinking about raising one. I'm afraid I'm going to do everything wrong. I think I want to get a puppy first, then get one that's a year or so old (as I think someone mentioned). How does that sound? Thanks ladies for your comments! Angie |
