Carmine has an "issue" So Carmine who is now 3 has this problem, he poops under the bed. But its not just that he does that its like a habit now. My husband works 2nd shift and gets home around 11:30 at night he always lets the dogs out and waits for 10 - 15 mins for them and then brings them back in...well thats when Carmine will go under the bed! I thought maybe he didn't like to go outside but I have taken him out during the day and stuff and he will go poop outside. I guess my question is how do I get him to break this habit??? I mean he knows when my husband is coming home so I don't think it would matter if I take him out and he will wait till he comes inside to go. AHHH I can't take it anymore and my husband is very frustrated. Hopefully someone can come up with an idea for me! Thanks |
WHOA!!! How do you clean it up? Don't know about YOU, but I couldn't get under my bed if I *wanted* to! If he's consistent with the timing, then maybe he needs to be crated when your hubby brings him back in. Or put him on a leash so he can't get under the bed. I'll be watching for other suggestions ... that one's a tough one. |
Make sure that you clean the area well with an Enzyme...if your little guy smells it..that's all he will need to keep using the area! |
can you put things under your bed so he cant get under there? i have those thin long storage bins under my bed . First spray it with an enzyme solution to clean it. |
You might have to go back to square one and crate him at night and don't let him in the bedroom during the day. It isn't just the smell that makes them go back there. if it were then training would be easy. It's just that he has decided that this is where he should poop and no one has caught him doing it to tell him any different. Also does he eat when your husband comes home? If so I would stop letteing him eat. As a rule an adult dog should not have tro poop in the night. You could try not letting him have anything to eat after 4 in the after noon to see if that helps too. |
