FYI Learned something new Care Credit I'm having to have my wisdom teeth removed as well as TMJ treatments and I don't have dental insurance. I thought this was interesting and wanted to share this. The oral surgeon doesn't have a payment plan, however they accept a credit card called care credit. It's only able to be used for medical purposes. As long as your dr accepts it or vet you can use it for your pet as well. I thought it was neat something was available for us and our fur babies. |
Oh yeah it's great. I use that as my emergency card for the babies vs buying pet insurance. That way I only pay for what I need. Also if you spend $300 or more you can get up to 48 months with no interest but you just make the minimum payment and have to have it paid off by that time. Under the $300 you pay something like 11% interest which is great especially now. It's a great card to have. You can use it for all sorts of procedures. |
yeah I have and used care credit. Be careful though because I used it and thought I would automatically get the interest free deal but the interest rate is like 22%, I had to use it for an emergency spay and it cost over $500. I paid it off as quikcly as possible. I dont know why the interest rate was so high, I have great credit and I was aproved up to like 4500 or something like that. I dont know how you work it so you pay interest free, I just paid it off so I could be done with it. I only have it for emergencies. |
I would defintely recommend paying any card off early if possible :) I don't have little details, but I thought it was interesting there was something out there available for emergencies :) |
You should have contacted them. That is definitely wrong. I know mine is at 11% if I let it drag out. |
i got care credit back in 1999 when i had to take my toy poodle in for a csection and spayed..it cost me $900 but i had no interest for 2 years...which was great...i too use this card in case of emergency...since i don't have pet insurance.... recently my sister maltese fracture his leg...she doesn't have great credit but since i haven't used my care credit in say 8 years...i let her use it ... her total cost was $1300 for fix his leg and get him neutered...no interested for 1 year... i am not sure what the interested rate is...i don't think it matters how good your credit is...care credit is sorta like department store cards...imo |

I think what happened there is that for the bills that get the deferred interest they tell you the interest rate is 20 something percent...they want you to pay off that bill before the deferred time is up. But if it's under the $300 then the interest rate is the 11% because there is no deferrement on it and it's just a regular charge. The care credit is better to me than the insurance. I won't have anyone trying to say something is a pre-exisiting condition and deny my claim. My friend has had VIP for about four years and paid for the max package. Earlier this year her dog ended up with some sort of blood disorder and they made her jump through hoops to get her stuff all paid up. Then came time for her renewal. On their policy a renewal is treated like a new policy and not a continuation. So when it came time for her renewal they told her he has a pre-exisiting condition (that blood disorder) so they won't be renewing. I found that to be sneaky as hell but they did it. That was another thing that turned me off from them. |
Where do you get this? It would give peace of mind for that "what if?" or "Heaven forbid". |

care credit! I got this card many years ago when a westie I owned had a emergency at the vet. It was one of those emergencies that you have to do something and have to decide between your pet and the money. In my case the pet always comes first. I eventually lost the pet however all these years I have kept the card and use it FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY!!! I always pay it off in one to two payments because the interest rate is crazy. It is a secure thing to know I have it for emergencies with my pets only but I have only used it a few times.;) |
