Are male yorkies more affectionate? Would you say that male yorkies are more affectionate than females? Hot Rod has always been a little lover and has suggled ever since we brought him home. Hubby even made a comment about how he was the new lap baby (I lost my lap cat a year earlier). We brought Maggie home at the end of July and she is just starting to want to be hugged and held but not for too long. She always wanted attention and has always been excited to be around us but not necessarily held. Now every night she runs and jumps up onto hubby and stretches up his tummy and chest to be held and petted for a couple of minutes and then she is done. She'll sunggle on the pillow next to me on the couch and go to sleep but never in my lap or arms. I try to hold her and she'll stay for a couple of minutes but then she's outta there. I remember a post about this and from what I can remember, males seemed to be the more affectionate, what would you say? |
There have been other threads about this and I think most found the males to be more affectionate. However with mine my female is so its not always the case |
Bowie has started to get more affectionate, he loves to cuddle and be pet, but Ava is a super cuddle bug!!! |
I don't think so. It all depends on the dog cause Sophie, my girl is one of the most affectionate ones. She just loves being near me, on me, giving me kisses |
Oh don't get me wrong, Maggie is very loving. She gives tons and tons of kisses but she just doesn't want to be cuddled and held for long periods of time. I try to hold her and she just takes off. She's not one to fall asleep in my lap. Sometimes when we're all stretched out on the couch, she'll jump off the couch and lay on the floor and go to sleep. I guess I should have phrased it are males yorkies more of cuddley than females. |
My two Yorkies are so so affectionate and they are both males. I could hold them all for HOURS with out them fidgeting or anything. Either way, I think it just depends on the temperament of the doggy! |
I think its a toss MY LITTLE STUD MANOLO LOVES MY HUSBAND, JOANNA(MY DAUGHTER) AND TERESA,GRACIES MOM. MY GIRL LOLA LOVES TO SLEEP RIGHT NEXT TO ME AND NOW I AM KEEPING HER BABY BOY PABLO..WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN. MY SCOTTIE BAILEY LOVES ME AND MY WESTIE KIRBY LOVES ME...GET THIS WE HAVE 5 DOGS IN OUR BED.......SOOOO I THINK THEY ARE ALL SPECIAL IN THEIR OWN WAY........OH BY THE WAY, THEIR TEMPS ARE ABOUT 103 DEGREES WAAAARM IN THE WINTER.......SMILE:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:a imeeyork:aimeeyork |
Some people have said that, but I don't know I think it depends of their personalities, my girls are very affectionate:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I love my girls but, oh my boys are the most affectionate. I would much rather show a boy than a girl....boys are more consistent and dependable.....really want to pleas......Girls have the harmone thing going on and on any given show day she can all of a sudden decide that I've lost my brains and expect her to do something she doesn't want to do. |
Girls vs. Boys Pebbles kisses everyone constantly! But Bogey is my turn upside-down rub me, nose pushing touch me boy! She sleeps between legs or against bended knee & he sleeps against my back every night. He's the most kuddley- touch me all the time yorkie. |

I have two males and a female. One of the males and my female always wants to be in my lap or right next to me. My oldest male wants to me near, but not be held. So, I guess I don't have the answer to your question. I don'tthink the males are as stubborn....my Zoey will bark until she gets her way....she rules the roost all 3.9lbs....:aimeeyork |
All of mine are affectionate, but the girls are more demanding. The boys will take what they can get and be happy. If I will let them lie in my lap that's good enough. The girls are in the face demanding, it's their way or nobody gets comfortable. I love all of mine but if I had to pick male or female and only have one...it would be a male for sure. |
Sandy and TJ are both affectionate and want to be right next to us. Sandy will go sleep by my hubby for a little while in the morning and then she wants Mommy. TJ wants his Mommy. He is my cuddle bug. Sandy will go back and forth between hubby and I, she loves to cuddle, too. I don't think it is so much a male/female thing. Some babies are more cuddly than others.. Just like our skin-kids.... : |
Well, I guess time will only tell. Maggie did her thing with hubby again, run up his chest, lick his face as he rubs her down. :p It's so cute, she is all stretched out on him while this is going on. Then when she had enough, off she went. She's definitely got her own little way about her. She is always ready to give kisses but when she wants to (which is actually quite often) and when she has, she's off. It so funny. If it were Hot Rod in this scenario and I held onto him, he'd just lay down and either curl up or stretch out on my lap. They are little characters, aren't they? :p |
