I haven't checked fares today - but they usually go up over the weekend - it's the airlines way of getting more moeny when people have time to buy on the weekends. I wonder if a travel agent could get a bunch of us that haven't booked flights a deal even though we are not all flying from the same city? Since we are all going the same place maybe we could get a discount -- my parents have a good family friend who has ran an agency forever & she specializes in group travel. I'll contact her on Monday & see if she can offer guidance or help.

I was just thinking of starting a different thread to address the extended stay question - because other people don't seem to be coming back here to read this thread :confused:

I am planning to fly in either Wed. night (if a friend of mine will let me come with my dogs & stay with her that night, she travels a lot & has a cat, so I don't know if she will want me) Otherwise, I found a flight that would get me there at around 10:45 - so by the time I get luggage & get to the hotel it could easily be noon -- I'm just hoping that isn't too late to join in the festivitieis. Then the latest flight I found out on the same airline would let me leave on Sunday at like 7:30 pm. I might do that if people want to go hang out somewhere in DC or somewhere that day - been dealing with luggage will also be an issue. Because if you leave it at the hotel, then go into DC - then you'll have to include time to get back to the hotel, then to the airport. I would even leave on Monday night if people are going to hang around.

Mary, the pet cruise is just a cruise that runs several times each day. Only one of the boats allow pets. So there is no particular time cast in stone. A lot of us are thinking of trying to plan for the cruise around 4 pm on thursday.

Oh BTW.. we are arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Monday. But we will be staying in an RV park in Dumfries, VA along with 4 other YT couples. We also are bringing rock band with us so if anyone wants to join us after hours just let us know.

I would like to make 2 suggestions :)

1) Last year, one of the things that made reading the KC meetup thread so fun - was that occasionally the thread was updated with a list of names of who had signed up. It was actually posted in the order you signed up - everybody had a number (that number was on everything too when we got to the meetup - our notebook, raffle tickets, etc.)

Seeing who else had signed up was exciting to those of us who had already signed up - but also encouraging to those people still sitting on the fence - especially if you saw one of your favorite posters sign up :)

2) For those of us wanting to figure out travel plans - it would be nice to see a schedule - even if it's just an outline of what you hope it will be. I know last year our Saturday was packed - really no free time. But for those coming early on Thursday - it would be nice to know when those activities will start. And the same for those on Friday.

Thank you to all those involved in planning this event - I wish I could have helped, but didn't know if I would get to come. I appreciate all the time & effort you have each put in to pulling this together. I think you are extremely generous.
