Can't pick Winston up Everytime I try to pick up Winston he backs up and runs away. I'm not picking him up to put him in a crate or pen, just to hold him. I have to corner him to pick him up. Once picked up he is very loving and does great. Likes for me to hold him and walk around. Any ideas on what the problem is? He is 4 months old and weighs 4 lbs 6 oz. It's getting really hectic always having to chase him down. |
He probably wants to play, i.e., be chased. Try training him to sit, give reward, and pick him up. |
Try just sitting down, with something good in your hands, and call him to you. when he comes over praise him and give him a little treat. do this several times a day. after afew days give treat only every 2-3 times. This should make him want to come to you.;) |

He is trained to sit. He will bring a toy, then drop it and sit to get a treat. He will also sit and stay. As soon as I reach to pick him up he runs away. The only time I can pick him up is when he is really sleepy. I'm at my wits end. |
Gypsy will do that. She is usually wanting to play. When she really wants up she will turn around and present her back side so she can be scooped up better. |
Sit on the floor and let him come to you. Maybe he is just not the cuddly wanna be held type, or maybe he thinks that you might crate him. |
