Frustrated with pad training My yorkie is almost two years old and has reverted to peeing and pooping off the pad - sometimes right on the edge. I am tired of the indoor bathroom. Any advice on moving her from indoor to outdoor? |
sorry no advice as mine are all pad trained. Gabby use to do the same thing to me and I started using washable pads and since then she goes right on the pad. |

Our girl uses both the pad and outdoors. She was pad trained, but then we took her on vacation and did not want to use them in our motel room. We had a ground floor room across from a park, so we walked her there, and she just instinctively went on the grass. Try walking your dog regularly where there are grassy areas. Walking stimulates them to go as well as other dog smells that are in the grass. As for going on the potty pad, I've noticed that they do not seem to want to go on a pad that is fairly soiled, so they will go elsewhere. We have to change the pad about every other day, when the weather keeps her and us in. And as far as going on the edge, unless you have a holder with edges around the pad, I'm not sure how they are supposed to tell if their butts are actually over the pad when they go. I mean, the pad is totally flat, so how do they know where the boundaries are without an edge of some sort. Just the way I see it. |

Okay, I just found them on eBay. Is there a specific brand you have found holds up better. Any tips on how to most efficiently use/wash them? I was thinking of buying six but then seems you would be doing a lot of laundry. |

I use "Pooch Pads" and they are great! They last forever (washable). I then put them in a tray. Like a litter pan for cats except these are made for dogs. I get them at Pet Supplies Plus. They are made to use with a doggy litter (no way! It would be everywhere!) This way in the tray, they know they are on the pad and don't get half on and half off. I found the cheapest place to get the "Pooch Pads" that is thru JeffersPet.com. Or you can get them at Pet Smart. |
potty training Molly uses a Ugo dog.. I found it online and you just put newspaper in the bottom and the grates sit ontop. No more wet paws .She's done really well right from the start and once in awhile she misses. :thumbup: |
