Go for it! We had a 2 yr. old when her half-brother , 8 months old, became available. Our oldest, Hope, completely ignored him for about 2 weeks, but now they are playmates! I did keep them seperate at first when we were not home, but now I completely trust them. Interestingly, Hope @ 4 lbs. is the alpha dog over Rio, who is 8 lbs. They are 2x the love, for us and for them. |
I have 4...3 boys and 1 girl....not a good situation is it since none are neutered and the girl isnt spayed...My oldest boy littlebit and the girl was breeded and thats how i got the other two boys haha...they all get along good most of the time but right now i think princess is getting ready to come into heat...2 of the boys had a little argument today but they are fine now...just have to let them know whos boss haha...i do have to figure a way to keep the boys away from her if she is getting ready...i sure dont want them to get with her especially her two sons...No Way! I usually breed her with littlebit, no relation there. I really dont want to breed her again because i get attached and dont want to let the puppies go, thats how i ended up with 4 :D |

Well, I've always had more than one. Right now I have 3. Generally, they get along fine. On a rare occassion they get into a little squabble, usually over a toy. I think a lot of it has to do with personalities - just like people. If you feel that you can keep up with two, I'd say go for it. I agree with the others - definitely monitor them until you know that they can get along together before letting them alone. Don't be discouraged, there will definitely be a transition period for all of you. Good luck. |
When I added Pebbles to the family, I read some where that they should have their own things. So, I have separate food bowls, separate beds they use during the day and even separate potty pads down, just incase they have a problem going in the same spot. But Pebbles only came with 2 toys, a tennis ball & a childs stuffed toy, so, she is in heaven playing with all of Lucy's toys :) who hasn't seemed to mind to much about sharing them. Good luck which ever way you go. I do know my Lucy is so happy to have a playmate now, she turned 4 years old a month before we got Pebbles. That was a long time to be alone when her humans were gone. |

Thanks and I think (well I am %99 sure) I am gonna go for it! The new Yorkie is way littler than mine now and is coming with its own crate, so I will keep the seperated forever (well when it comes to crates and kennels). I think they will be just fine! I am so excited. We will be moving out soon so since we will have our own house i want to fill it up, like kids. Lol! Right now we live in sort of an in-law apartment and convincing them of getting a second dog may not be easy, but I can prob pass it off as Buddy. HAHA! But honestly they wouldn't care. They think that a dog is good for me, since I have nee so sick, so the more the merrier! Right? ;) |
my yorkies are 16 lbs. and 5 lbs. Tootie was a year old when we brought Baby Hope home, he immediately loved her and they are the best of friends! Go for it, good luck! d |

I think you are 100% sure so I am going to say CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND BUDDY for your new baby. Buddy is 2 yrs old and still young and energetic, I think he will love having a playment...and yes Yorkies are like having children... I have a 17 yr old and 20 yr old and having my Yorkie reminded me of having a young toddler in the house... that's the beauty of a Yorkie you have a baby that never grows up and go away to college!! You will be glad you got your 2nd baby, I can hardly wait for my second Yorkie I have already bought a variety of things for him! :) |
