When can I get my furbaby groomed for the first time? She is 10 weeks old.

Not until she's had her full compliment of vaccinations......it's not recommended to take your puppy out and around other dogs until then.
Most groomers won't groom your puppy without verification of shot records.

She goes for more of her puppy shots next week. Thank you so much for letting me know that!!!

Not sure what it is in your state, here, I can get mine groomed at what ever age I want...I always took mine early to get them used to it..Mine was about 10 weeks when I took her in...call the groomer and ask..I know the lady that does mine doesn't take in a lot of dogs in the same day

You'll have to wait until she has had all her shots plus two weeks for full immunity which is around sixteen weeks. Until then, puppies shouldn't be taken in any public dog areas like grooming salons, pet stores, dog parks, even common areas in apartment complexes or neighborhoods.

Puppies get immunities to deadly diseases from nursing their mother. These immunities will attack and kill the viruses in those first vaccines leaving the puppy completely unprotected from deadly diseases. Parvo is especially dangerous for puppies. It is shed in the feces of infected dogs and can live on surfaces for months. It can even be carried on car tires and shoes.

We had a family a few summers ago lose both their Pomeranian puppies to parvo. The puppies had had two of the three shots and the owners sadly thought they were protected.

I'm a groomer and will only groom dogs with updated vaccinations. It's for your dogs benefit as well as other clients......As well as for the protection of my own.....

I am so glad that I posted this. I will definitely wait until her vaccinations have been completed. Bailey is the first dog that I have had that has needed to get groomed, so I've never had to deal with this issue. I truly am thankful for all of the information.

Don't know what your vet's vaccination protocol is.....

Usually first is given at 8 weeks (kennel cough is usually given at this time too), next at 12 and a 3rd at 16 weeks.......Some vets administer 4 vaccinations.

Until she's completed her shots....you might want to learn how to groom her yourself.....
