This might be premature BUT...maybe Mika Quick background I buy Mika for the daughter (who was living with me after completing college). My little scheme is daughter will never leave and I get to enjoy Mika too. Daughter fools me and had it going on more than I imagine and packs up and moves to Atlanta. AFter she gets settled I have the heartbreak of taking Mika to her Mommy and leaving heartbroken for an empty house. I rally and drive to Oklahoma months later to pick up my own new baby Maya. We are adjusting and working on potty training. The daughter calls....she is and has been in love with a guy from Japan she met in college. They both ADORE Mika...BUTTTTTTTTTTT his student visa is up, and she wants to move to Japan with him. Here are the bars for Mika * Some test that has to be taken after a rabies shot that has to incubate for 180 days before Japan will let her in. *1,000.00 deposit required to have a dog in an apartment *Noise clause in the lease, whereas if the neighbors feel the dog is too loud the dog can be removed. So heartbroken daughter is looking at sending Mika home to live with me and Maya. Well how does Mommy feel about this..... Ambivalent. Maya is an only child Mika is so much bigger than Maya, will she hurt her??? Double grooming vet, food and other care bills for Mommy now.... Will I be glad to have Mika home???? I loved her so much, but on last visit, she did not even seem to remember me.... I don't quite know how to feel. Right now, I just feel anxious. |
I'm sure after she has been back with you for a week she will settle right in. All 4 of my yorkies are different sizes and I was worried first about Nicholas being so small with the others but all was just fine. Hes like the spoiled brat to them now. |
I think you just have a lot on your plate now but everything will all work out. She knows and loves you and will again;);) Also she will have a new sister!!:D:D |
Wow doesn't things you think you have a plan for always bite you in the butt!!!! Well you will be fine. I have a 2.8 lb baby she will be 1yr nxt week and let me tell you. She is the sassy little girl and no one gets anything over on her. She can growl at them if she needs to and can run and duck under places they haven't even thought about. You will be fine once she gets back with a schedule. Its just over whelming to think about right now. But I would hate for her to go over there and then need to come back. Its hard to tell what would happen or if it would be easy to get her back. Kids they can always make you scratch your head when you think things are all settled. |
I wouldn't worry anout the size difference, just watch them at first. I have a 11 lb pom with my 4 lb yorkies. It will be somuch fun having 2, they love having someone to play with and I love having 4 now. I thought having ,more than one that they ywouldn't bond with me and not be snuggly, wrong!!! Now I get 4 of them trying to sit anywhere they can on me. Maybe you could take him with the understanding that any medical bills would be paid for by your dtr? |
The size difference shouldn't matter, my Izzy is 8lbs and Luna is 4lbs:laugh: They play just fine;) I'm sorry that your daughter may have to give Mika up, but at least she'll know that she will be well taken care of and not with some stranger. |
Mika will remember you after some time has passed....and size shouldn't worry you at all. Daizy is 5 lbs...and she rough houses with my kids Golden retriever pup...that weighs in right now at 60 lbs and growing....and he hasn't ever hurt her!!! Given some time I'm sure Maya and Mika will be best friends!! That's another reason why I can't wait to get another yorkie...Daizy needs a playmate...here in the house full time! So Good luck and enjoy you little pack!! If money is an issue....maybe your daughter can help with some of Mika's expenses since she is Mika's MOMMY! And your doing her a great favor! |

Twice the Love! :D Like others have said, just watch them closely at first. Gracie Ruth was barely 2lbs when we got her, Boo is 10 1/2lbs. He looked ginormous next to her! He was very careful with her, just a time or two did he get too rough and she did the whole puppy squeak thing and he learned fast just how far he could go. He'd crouch or lay down so that she could reach him when they wrestled. These little ones are quite tough. You may find you have more problems with Maya being too hard on Mika. |

Wow - if only I lived closer I would have thought it was fate because I'm in the process of looking for a girl who will be a bit bigger (to play with my Deegan) and I also wanted to name her Mika!!! Ugh... If you consider selling her you can contact me if you are willing to ship her. |
