jumping baby gate
 

Just curious if anyone else has their dog jumping the baby gate? When I came home from work today, Cocoa had escaped!

I know one jumper....and many more who just climb over it.

My baby gate has vertical bars....no where to place their feet to climb.

I couldn't figure out how Maggie was getting past the baby gates until I actually spied on her one day. She was fitting thru the center as I had the gate opened as wide as it could go!!! The little stinker was squeezing herself through.:eek:

I watched how Cocoa did it. She jumped so that her head was over the gate and her tummy was right on top of the gate. Then she pulled herself over! I guess I am going to have to start shutting my bedroom door. I moved her from the crate to my bedroom because she was shaking about going in the crate and not even chewing on anything - she has been MUCH happier in the bedroom.

I have a one year old male that comes and goes as he please right over the baby gate probably a hundred times a day. I do not like it at all but short of crating him, there is nothing I can do and I don't crate my dogs.

I dont have a gate, but trixie jumps over anything, even on my computer desk, and the entretaiment center. she uses her nails like a cat to jump on my really high kinds bed

We had that problem, too!
 

This post actually reminded me of a very funny moment we had a couple of months back. We have a gate in our laundry room and we left for a short time leaving our 3 month old / whopping 2 pound (at the time) Hazel to have the run of the room (her crate and pee pad is in there too...)

Anyhow, when we came back home I freaked out because I found poo in the hallway. I immediately checked on Hazel to find her laying quietly in her crate, in the laundry room, with the baby gate secure. I'm freaking out trying to figure out how the heck we have poo in the hallway, but Hazel had no way out.

We quickly learned that she was "squeezing" her way through the SIDE and of the gate (between the wall and the hinges) and then returning to "her room". LOL The whole family laughs at me now because of the paranoia I had that day... She is now double her size and can no longer get out (we think...hope!!) We continue to stuff towels along the bottom and up the sides fearing she will get stuck and/or hurt. That worked to keep her in. Funny though. They can flatten their little bodies out in an amazing way! She does try to jump it but right now can only jump straight up. She hasn't tried to jump on furniture yet and won't attempt the stairs either. She just jumps at the gate like a little jumping bean! They are too funny!

I have one here or did and could scale a extra tall gate, quick as a wink in a cone as well.

Duke is the master of all escape artist. He too jumps up so his head is over the gate and uses his legs to pull himself over. I have bought all sorts of extra tall gates and he has gotten out all the times.
He now has the run of most of my apartment, good thing we live in a small enough space where he's still safe roaming around.

Oh yes, Tristan used to jump those things when we gated them! We just bought another one and stacked them 2 high lol.
We call him Tigger!!

Oh yes. Bella jumped right over into the craft room the other night when I was in there to get something quick. I now have 2 stacked at the top of my stairs so she can't get over there... at least I hope not.
