I was even going to bring his yorkie to my house until I could find him a good home. Well my sister decided she wanted the dog, and her and her husband would work with it on pottytraining it(her husband spoils their dogs). The guy told my husband & I to drive by and pick it up at night, but he wouldnt tell his wife we were coming to get it for some reason. Well we tried but things went under when the dog took off running to the end of his leash in the opposite direction, yelping.. We got out of there before the cops showed up. So then he told us to wait a few days to come and get it because they were breaking the news to their daughter. Well my sister calls him a week later, and he tells her he gave it away to his neighbor and they just havent came and got it yet. But he told my husband his neighbors brought it back to him. So he has been lying about the whole situation(probably because he didnt tell his wife, he was giving it away in the first place). My sister drives by his house daily and sees the little dog outside on a leash. On hot days, they have t-shirts on the dog! I will let the rescue people know, but I dont know if they will do anything about it in our small town. I will try again and see if he will let me take the dog.. Hopefully things will work out.. I was mad when I first heard he was keeping the dog outside on a leash. Thats why asked my husband to ask him if I could have the dog, but he said no because it's his daughters. But one day he seen me and came up and asked me to find the dog a home and now he wont give it away. We are located in OK. |

Maybe you should offer the man some money for the dog. Most people do not give things away for free. I agree with everybody else, I would just call the humane society. However, I would try to help the man potty train his dog before calling the humane society. Potty training a dog is not easy. He might actually love the dog, and he just does not know how to take care of his pet. I hope a visit from the Humane Society can teach him how to take care of his pet. It is hard to give up a pet you love even if you are struggling to take care of the animal. If he does not know how to take care of his pet, then the humane society will find the dog a better home. |
Call animal control, report him do whatever you have to do, but please get this poor baby some help. Be insistent and maybe he will let you take him. |

some people are so awful. this is terrible. no dog should have to be forced to stay outside. i could not imagine leaving my little Bentley outside all the time like that. that just shows that you truly do not care about animals. Its one thing to let him outside to potty and to play but to never let him in and keep him tied up is just cruel. This man definitely needs to be reported and that little dog needs a good home. |
[QUOTE=animallover8;2268371]I have 3 yorkies and I know they cannot stand to be hot or cold.. They hate to go potty outside if its real hot or real cold. In my opinion, yorkies are not outside dogs! They need to be in the house with people. Does anyone agree?? Agreed, of course I don't think they should be KEPT outside. On the other hand my Yorkie loves to go outside, perch in the sun in the yard and chase and study birds and chipmunks. She goes ga ga over walks and I think she would positively go stir crazy if she never got out of the house. |
Being a yorkie has nothing to do with it. No dog should live on a chain. Unless a dog is used for working, like a flock guardian, etc., all dogs should be in the house. My Rottweiler is an indoor dog and so is my Maltese. True he spends a few hours outside in the fenced in yard, but he lives in the house. The reason he isn't the monster people make rotties out to be, has a lot to do with the fact that he is a member of the family. When dogs spend all day in the yard or on a chain, they essentially become lawn ornaments. No dog should live like that. I have a "friend" who sounds similar to the OP's case. She and her boyfriend bought some designer mix from a pet store. Now the poor thing lives outside 24/7 and is lucky to get fed everyday. He has never been to the groomer and I don't think they've ever brushed him either. I have suggested to the friend's mother that she take the dog to the pound, but she won't because it's her grandson's dog. I flat out told her that letting them keep the dog like that is worse for the kid than losing his dog. He is learning that it's okay to keep a dog outside and neglect it. Better he should learn that not taking care of a pet means it will be taken away from you. |

I don't believe any dog should be kept outside especially small dogs like these!!! Not to mention that these lil guys sometimes take 1-1 1/2 to completely potty train! They obvisouly didn't do their research and are now making that poor puppy pay the price! I am outraged!! You should be calling the Humane Society on him and if that doesn't work that I would put a plan in action to puppy knap that poor baby!! I know it's wrong, but desperate times, call for desperate measures!!!! |

The most humane thing you can do is to report this man to the humane society. NO dog should be tied to a tree. NO yorkie should ever be allowed to be outside in an unfenced yard alone. NEVER. do a search on here and you will find so many yorkies who were killed by bigger dogs and predators. |
