Dixie getting spayed! So I made a appt. today for my little Dixie to get spayed and microchipped on Oct. 15. She will be just six months old. Her brother (from a different yorkie litter) will not be getting neutered yet, he is two weeks younger. Teddy is my twin daughters little yorkie and Maxie (who is already neutered and almost a year old) is our wonderful little rescue yorkie that belongs to my other twin daughter. They will both be here waiting for her to come home from her surgery. My question is what should I expect? Should I keep Dixie separated from them when she comes home to recover? How long should I expect her to be recovering? They all three play so well together as well as eat and sleep together that I am really wondering what I might expect. She will problely be there overnite at the vets office, I am sure going to miss her and will problely want to campout on thier sidewalk or something. Any advice?:) |
Good Luck!!!!!! :D Usually when females get spayed, recovery time is a little bit longer than males, since they are going into the abdomen wall. For proably a week, you will have to keep Dixie seprated from other dogs, she will not be able to get wet, jump around, or even run around. your vet will probably tell you to leash walk her for that entire week. she will probably be on an antibiotic called meta-cam, which is usually dispenced in syringes (no needles of course) its sorta like a honey base. she should be fine, just gonna be hard to keep her low key. Fiona is due to get her spay by the end of this month, and I"ll be a nervous wreck!!!! |
