What should I do? Little dog running free The other day I was walking Ivy & Max when this little poodle came running up to us. He had a collar on but I didn't see anyone after him. Then he ran into the road and almost got hit:eek::eek: That time of day it gets busy. I tried to get him but he keep coming up to me then running away from me. Now the people are given me dirty looks because they think he is mine and he keeps going into the road!!! ( my babies are now in the house ) Well he ran off down the road and didn't come back. I did look to see if the poor thing got killed or worse hurt but couldn't find him. Then yesterday I saw him again running free:eek::eek::eek: I live in a small town and we don't have much of dog control, so no one is going to do anything. How can anyone let their dog run free like that???? What should I do?? My father just lost his cat after 17 years and I was hoping he would get another animal, but he tells me nothing more but now he is in that house all by himself. Sorry so long but people just P*** me off:thumbdown |
I would start carrying a slip leash and treats when you go on your walks and if the little dog comes up to you again, lure it close with treats and then slip the leash on it. It would worry me to see one running loose like that. It probably has an owner somewhere, but that owner isn't looking out for it! |
Yes, carry a leash and treats - you'll get him ;) - then we can figure out what to do after that, after you know he is safe  |
aww poor little guy. The other night, around 11:00 we ordered a pizza. Well bobby was at the front screen with my hubby and the pizza man said who is little guy. My hubby looked down and there was little doggie trying to kiss bobby through the screen. Hubby went out there and the little guy was so friendly and just layed at his feet. I told him to bring him inside so that we can look at his collar. He was so filthy even his collar was dirty. So i called the number on the collar and a women answered saying that he was her brothers dog and that she would try to contact him and call me back. Meanwhile this little guy was just so happy to be getting attention. she called me back saying that she couldnt reach her brother and that I should just let the dog go and maybe he would find is way back home  I told her I would not do that. I asked the address of the brother. she gave it to me. turns out he lived right down the street from me. I told her that I would walk down there and see if he was home. as i reached his house he pulled up. Saying oh you found our little dog? I told my roomate not to keep him here, because i like big dogs :thumbdown I wanted to turn around and walk away with the dog! But he took him. I told my husband that if I see him again I am taking him in. Because he obviously is not being taken care of being that he was so filthy. People make me so angry.:( |

Poor baby, Hope you catch it. |
Maybe take some treats out with you and see if you can coax him/her in. Good luck. As far as the neighbor with the lost dog. Go ask him if they would like you to rehome him somewhere he'd be wanted and loved then pop knot the guy. :p |

Could be possible that he could have dug himself a little hole under his fence that his parents don't know about, and he has access to a doggie door while they are gone. He may just scoot back in whenever he needs a drink or something, then come back out to visit good people like yourself. ;) Maybe do as was suggested with treats and leash or go door to door to see if anyone knows where he lives. |
