Stitches in tail and other questions So my little yorkie is about 10 weeks old and I've noticed she still has a stitch in her tail from being docked. She goes to the vet this Friday but will it fall out on it's own, should I take it out, or have the vet do it? I'm not sure if it's the stitch bothering her but she keeps biting at her tail or maybe its just towards her backside but she also scratches her neck area. Could this possibly be allergies? I'm sure theres no fleas and the breeder gave her revolution and my cats get their monthly flea treatment of advantage. I'm currently switching her from Nutro Lite to Wellness Puppy food. I've also given her a bath using Perfect Coat Tearless Puppy Shampoo and I gave her another bath tonight with a Milk Bath Strawberry Shampoo because I wasn't sure if the tearless dried out her skin. Do any of you put collars on your babies? Or just use a harness. I will be using a harness when she goes on walks. How long does it take them to get used to the collar? She's going crazy over here with it. Thank you :) |

I'd ask the vet when you go. If her neck is itchy along with her tail, I would think fleas or mites. I wouldn't think food allergies at so young an age. Please do get her off of the Nutro. It has been blamed for illness and death in tons of dogs. Collars for identification are fine but you may want to take it off when she isn't supervised. Either way there is a risk. If you leave it on she could strangle herself and if you take it off and she gets out she has no ID, so it is a hard choice.:( |

I've heard of the problem with Nutro and I'm glad I'm taking her off of it, plus what the breeder gave me wasn't even puppy food. So I've been gradually mixing it but I notice she tends to pick out the Wellness. :) The collar issue is what has me in a twist. I took it off of her when she went to bed because I was paranoid something would happen. I think I'll keep it on when she's supervised as I'm just way to paranoid with anything happening to her. :( I think I may microchip but I'm not even sure how much it would really help. Thank you again. :) |
