Little hair Please can anyone tell me why my baby Jinx has so little hair. If I see other babies, it looks like somebody torn out all his. I must say, I can see that his hair has grown in length since I have him now for 2 weeks. Is there something wrong? What do I have to feed, bath or rub him with? I would also like him to have lots and lots of hair. |
Hi, welcome to YT. How old is your baby? I know other members on here know a lot more than I do and they have helped me greatly. It may depend on the texture of his hair too. do you have a picture of him? |
How old is your puppy? Some have thinner hair for a while until they are older. Usually the one's with the thinner hair as puppies have nice silky hair as adults. |
It could be a food issue too. What type of dog food are you feeding? Perhaps post in the Health and Diet forum for additional help. |
Hi there...I went and looked at your other thread that you posted pics of Jinx - I must say I LOVE his name and he is SO CUTE!!!! He is still a baby, so in time, his adult hair will grow in much fuller. OMG he is certainly a cute little bugger :p |

Thanx for that. I also thought it was a quite name, but someone asked me last night whether I know what Jinx means. I didn't even know that it had a meaning. No I am worried, say for instance I have put a spell on my baby without even knowing it!! Do I have to change his name, but he is already getting use to it, and I still love the name! |
My 4.5-month puppy also has thinner hair and I was also wondering the same thing. I saw the picture you posted on the other thread. Your Jinx looks a lot like my baby!!! But with thinner hair especially on the ears and nose. This is the picture I took of her when she was 14 weeks old. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ictureid=23109 |
My emma had very thin hair when smaller, she is now 10 months old with silver hair about 5 inches long... It is not "Thick" but it is gorgeous... Wish I could post a picture. Havent figured out how to shrink em so they can be used here. |

This looks more like the coat my little'un has. But mine has the blueish coat and the liver colored nose, no black rim on eyes and blue eye color at 4.5 mo. Do you have any pics of how he looks now? Kerry Barrett |
here's a comparison picture: 3.5 months (left) , 4.5 months (right) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ictureid=23120 |
I drove 6 hour to pick out a puppy after mine died unexpectedly. When I arrived, this women had a basket of Yorkies, I think there were 5 for me to pick from, I was getting the pick of the litter.. I almost went into shock. I was sad from loosing a pup, tired from the ride, and we still had to go back home. The basket was full of HONESTLY, just about bald pups. Everyone of them. Looked like a bunch of Eagelets. My husband and I were shell shocked. I finally picked one out and cried all the way home. She now is beautiful, her hair grew in, her head is just real lightly colored, almost white. But my point is, her hair will most likely grow, and you will grow to love her just the same. Give it time. |
My Daizy is 9 months old...and tho she's not bald...she doesn't have that beautiful silky coat yet.....I was told it can take up to 2 yrs for their beautiful coat to come out!!! Looks like I have another year and 3 mo.s!!!! I wouldn't change the name ....it's adorable and fits him to a T!!! Unless your uncomfortable....I knew what jinx meant and I still thought it was an adorable name!... :p |
I'm beginning to think my puppy is a red-legged Yorkie. After having her for 2 months, her coat grew half an inch on the head and body. 1/4" on her legs. 1-2mm on her ears and bridge of the nose. the back of her ears and nose bridge still looks almost bald. Her coat is still thin and wispy. However, it doesn't seem to be "reddish" in color. |
Hi everyone, as you can see, I have an avatar of Jinx now. I started to tie his hair, there are still not much to tie, but I am scared if I do not do this now, he just might not like it later on. ;) He didn't complain about it, but it didn't stay in very long because of the playing between the two babies. All your babies are such cuties and once again I would like to thank everyone for their support, every day I learn something new.:) Believe me, it is the best place to be, right here on site!!:cool: |
I remember an earlier post from you...I still think you baby is adorable and I love the name!! His hair will grow and you probably won't have all the tangle/matting issues that so many of us have to deal with. So blessings all around! :D |
1 Attachment(s) When I got my Bay-Bay, her hair was very thin and sparse on top. Now at 6 months old, it has filled in, though it is still thin and very fine. She gets more gray with each passing month. |
The pictures of jinx and Bay-Bay are absolutely adorable. My Suzi is 9 months old and is A chunk , she has not had problems with thin hair, and she is getting a lot grayer and lighter too. :aimeeyork |
Thank you again for this. Yah, I wanted a yorkie with lots of hair, but after reading various threads on the site, I suddenly remember that there is a purpose in everything that happens to us in life. So, I am happy and I love him just as he is, no matter what! There will soon be updated pictures to see. |
