My puppy is going to turn into a cat! O.K well my puppy is absolutely obsessed with cat food, as well as the cat is with the dog food! I swear the cat is going to start barking and the dog is going to start meowing LOL! What in the world can I do to entice the puppy food? Is there something I can add to the dog food to make it taste better? I am currently giving her exclusive dog food, it is little kibbles. I see her eat sometimes but i would say 85% of the time she is in the kitties food? HELP!!! I notice she poops alot, and litterally gorges on the cat food and I swear her little belly poofs out like a watermelon. LOL Any advice anyone or any experiences with this. THX BUNCHES !:):):) |

THX, I had already thought of that but was worried that the cat wont remember where I put her bowls, and think that I forgot to feed her. Im 27 and i think i probably worry way to much LOL! |
Maybe she likes the consistency of cat food (wet). Try mixing in a little canned wet food by the same brand as your kibble (if they make it) to see if she'll eat it then. |
I keep our cats food in my daughters bedroom. She's away at college, so the cat has the room to herself, but she doesn't like our little Tyke at all and stays in the room with her food. I did have to move it because when we brought him home it was in the hallway and he kept trying to eat it. Since I've moved it to the bedroom he doesn't go in there and alls well. :) |
I've heard cat food is really bad for them. Too high in fat. It can make their stool runny too. Mine gets bored with just dried kibble too, although he preffered the Fromm kibble over the Canidae. I agree with Sasha311, it's the consistency that they love. A spoonfull of wet food in the kibble does make them happy though. Garrett does seem to be part cat too, because he absolutely loves fish:D. Salmon and tuna are his favorite. |
I have two senior cats, I always free feeding them but when I got my yorkies I put them in the schedule I will feed them or hubby and put the bowl away when they are done:animal-pa |
My dogs will eat my cats food too (its dry food). I have it down on the stairs to the basement so I can hear if they go down there. I just try to keep them upstairs but yah I dunno why but they seem to like the variety! |
My Papillion steals the cats food too... Sammy is now a 15 pound tea-pot...LOL, He was 10 pounds 1 year ago. He sneaks upstairs during the night and steals the cats food. We put it up in the bathroom. Sammy jumps up and gets it. Papillions are fantastic jumpers!!! I gave up, now he's FAT...Good-Luck with your little one...:aimeeyork Baron's Mom:animal-pa |
You can always just get something that is good for both cats and dogs so you don't have to worry about them not eating the right stuff. I started feeding my baby milu Nature's variety Raw diet, it's the BEST! and it's for both dogs and cats, and all life stages as well. So dogs can eat it, cats can eat it. old dogs/young olds, old cats/young cats, everyone (furbabies that is) can eat it :) YAY! Win-win! if you don't want to do the whole RAW thing, they also have kibbles as well. :) |
I'm so thankful I don't have to deal with this on a daily basis since I don't own any cats . I'm here at my mom's house though and have been for the past 2 weeks. Lilly does EVERYTHING that my grandma's dog Bitsy does ... and she eats cat food. Therefore... you guessed it! Lilly's been eating it too! If we did live here though, I'd just try to keep the laundry room door closed (that's where the cat's food and stuff is). If that was impossible then I would put the food up higher like someone else recommended. |
i dont have any kitties but my yorkie is not that much into his food. So I just add a tiny bit of grated cheese and mix it with his food, he eats everything. Since Ive noticed cheese makes him a bit constipated, I add a small spoon of finely crushed bran flakes for breakfast, mix it with his food and he absolutely loves it. |
