testicle question Actually I have four questions: 1. Zeke is 15 weeks old and so far no sign of testicles. When should they show up? 2. When should his hair be long enough for a first grooming? It seems to be growing very slow, and I am not complaining. He has very nice fur. I was just wondering. 3. Do all Yorkie's have trouble with double teeth, and what happens if you let them take care of themselves? 4. I just started using treats. I give him one in the morning after he gets his eyes washed out as I was having trouble with this. Then he gets one in the evening around 7:30 just for the heck of it. In between, I sometimes give him some Cherrios while I train him to sit, etc. Problem is, now he begs for treats all the time. I do not give in and give them to him, but it is very annoying. Does anyone have any suggeestions on how to curb the begging? |
For the Testicle question: My Bandit is only 6 months old and they just dropped some at about 5 months old. So it can take a while. I'm not sure what the average time is for when they drop. Grooming: I got Bandit groomed for the first time at 3 months, I suggest even though his hair is not long yet, brush him everyday so he is used to it for when you need to do it. I had so much trouble with Bandit when I started brushing him and he had really bad mats, I got lucky with the groomer I found at Petsmart, she would not cut his hair even though all the rest said to shave him. Thankfully she got them out. #3 & #4 I have no clue sorry lol. Good luck!! |
Mine have all begun grooming by 5 months. I mean hair cuts....you will still need to brush him regularly to prevent matts. Some yorkies retain their baby teeth and must have the extra ones removed. Usually if he's going to be neutered...this would done at the same time. I have treat beggers here too. Actually Ramsey is head begger. |
Testicles can take quite a while to decend (sometimes over a year) Most vets tell you 6 months. Double teeth can be removed when the neuter is done. If left in they can cause the other teeth to be pushed out of line. I waited almost a year for Feather's and she still had 9 to remove. As the above poster said you should be brushing and combing daily and the grooming can take place whenever you wish. My dogs rarely get treats so I can't really answer that question. |
