Please Help!!! Yesterday I started swtitching Sumo's food. I added a little bit of the new stuff with the old stuff but last night he threw up 5 times!!! and this morning he threw up again. Should I take him to the Vet? Could it be something more than a sensitive tummy??? Help! I feel so bad for my baby :( |
More than anything I'm *bumping* this thread for you, as I don't find myself qualified. But also, just my two cents, that should not happen with a switch of food, gradual or not. If anything, it's usually runny poo. I would take him to the vet right away because if this continues he could very easily get dehydrated, and also, I would think something else is wrong besides the food switching. Good luck! Keep us updated! |
what type of food was it? There is no harm in calling the vet, example whats happening to them and they will offer good advice. Its probably nothing, but why chance it? |
Please, take him off kibble and put him on real food. I do know all Vets. try and sell certain types of pet food, but Vets. are not trained in nutrition. The information they get it solely thru the pet food company............and you know they are only in it for the profit. |
OH no, maybe he got in to somenthing poor baby, I agree with lovemyprincekobi, I will call the vet and see what he say if you need to come in, but tomorrow is sunday and most vets are close on sundays, so I will take him in just in case. Sumo:getwell: Phoebe, Melody and Shayna send you tons of kisses little man. Please let us know how he is doing. ps. Some people give them a little pepto, but I will ask the vet if is ok, because of his age and weight. |
Omg I have had the worst morning!!! I took sumo to the vet and they told me they were gunna put him on antibiotics. and they also gave him some fulids. well in the middle of all of this I fainted!!! and when they woke me up, I threw up too :( now me and Sumo are both at home feeling very very sickk :( |
:getwell: Well, hope you are BOTH feeling better real soon.:getwell: So what did the vet say was Sumo's problem? I agree that it was most likely NOT the switch in foods. I assume it was nothing too serious as he is home recuperating along with you. Your fainting and throwing up.....must have been due to feeling sympathy pains for poor little Sumo. Hope you are both back on your feet/paws before too long. |

What did your vet diagnose Sumo with? |
Omgosh! What a day! I hope you both feel better soon. When Mia was young she ate something bad (still don't know what it was) and had runny poo and threw up multiple times. It was very scary, and I felt horrible for her. I took her to the vet and she gave her a shot for her upset tummy and eventually it stopped. Whenever Mia has an upset tummy, I boil some chicken and that is what I feed her. When she has runny poo, I mix a little white rice into her food. Feel better soon!! |
Thankyou everyone!! you guys are so great. The vet said Sumo probably ate something toxic or something he was allergic too, and that the food switch probably didnt help either. After the vet said that I remembered that I had chopped some onions for dinner and am assuming that maybe a couple pieces fell on the floor and he got to them? I keep a very close eye on him and i dont remember any pieces falling on the floor but that is the only thing I can think of that would have upset him this much :( Thankyou again everyone!! Sumo and I love YT!! :) |
Oh you poor dear! Are you both feeling better now? I used to get like that when my kids were sick and I had to take them to the doctor. I would feel faint and sick to my stomach. I did actually faint once when my oldest was a baby had to have a lumbar puncture. UGH. for you and Sumo. |
Gosh what A nightmare for the both of you. It might have been the enormous amout of stress you were under dealing with your sick dog. I am so sorry that happened to you! How are the both of you feeling today? I hope things are better! |
