He looks like a chocolate to me also. I was worrried when I saw that she has several different breeds!! I thought PM for sure....He's a pretty puppy though! There were alot of red flags on her site!! I'd stay clear...:aimeeyork Baron's Mom |
That puppy is a blue born blue yorkie. The blue, chocolate, and golden yorkies are here to stay. Breeders are wanting to show them and let the public see them in person. They are lovey dogs. It is hard to judge a kennel by its web site. She could be a responsible breeder and not a substandard one. Not all kennels are created equal!!!. I myself have two chocolate female yorkies, and have just purchased a blue male to cross with them to get the chocolate puppies. I haven't crossed over to the parti's and biewers yet. With the blues you don't want to breed two blues together, that is when the health problems start. I have heard nothing from other breeders other than the bad hair coats or baldness. Which years a go my daughter bought her first pet yorkie and it was a blue. when her puppy hair came out , nothing else came back in. Just her red, gold color. the rest was bald/. |
I am in no way an expert when it comes to blue born babies such as this one but I do know that the health issues are there and that they are in no manner RARE! Yes that is a very cute puppy and yes the pup may grow up without the health problems that so many of us have heard about. Myself I don't think that any blue born pup should be sold without being spayed or neutered first. I understand that people who raise the choc's and tri's would like to start showing their babies and that in my eyes is fine but, I think it should be done under a name other than Yorkshire Terrier. Many many breeders have worked very hard to try and keep touch with what the Yorkie should be and I personally don't see any path to advancement of the breed if there isn't a line drawn on what type or color can show against standard Yorkies, thus the rules set by YTCA and AKC. Some of the Chocolates that I have seen have been very cute but to me haven't actually looked like Yorkies except for the fact the hair was long. The tri colors I can't say that I have seen any in person to make a comment on. I do agree with many of you though, there are a great deal of red flags on her site. I'm not saying this makes her a bad breeder becasue I don't know this person. I am just saying that I would ask a lot of questions before I tought of buying. |
My post was only to be informative not to encourage anyone to buy....I had never seen a blue yorkie and knew others hadn't either. I think 4 is enough for me ....:D |
It would be nice if the akc would let them show like the cockers show. They show them in different classes as to color. I havne't seen any parti's That have really impressed me yet. I know that there are some cute one, I've seen pictures, but in person I am not impress with what I have seen ,and they paid gooood! money for them. The blues are like the blue chihuahua's to breed them you have to know the genetics to do it. No blue to blue. Blue is a delute. |
What does 'blue born' mean? Sounds kinda scary like 'still born'... |
Blue born, means that the pup is a mouse color, steel grey ,color when born, Not the original black color. They also have a different coat tecture to them. |

I think too that alot of times there is a misconception between referring to a dog as a "blue" Yorkie meaning a 'blue born' dog and blue Yorkie meaning standard coloring of a steel blue coat. The two are NOT the same. |
I guess that I didn't explain it quite right. the Blue born color of yorkie and the BLUE yorkie are very much different. The BLUE yorkie that is born the standard dark BlueBlack is very much desired to have. the Blue born yorkies are a dilute of color and can have health issues if the blue is carried too far. My daughters blue born yorkie is 8 yr old and healthy, except for being bald. I am only using the blue delite to bring out the chocolate in my line. I am after the chocolate not the blue.Blue and Chocolate are both delute colors. My blue born male came from two standard colored yorkies. What I am trying to do, may not work out for me. if not I have a different colored pet. |
