dog park i took toby too the dog park because we havent been there in a while and there was a brussels griffon there and also a pug! it took toby a while to warm up to the new dogs and he stayed between my legs for the first part of the time (the pug came over and tried to MARK my DOG!!!!, but because toby was between my legs the damn dog marked ME!!!! he did the several times and the owner didnt even apologize, she just let him do it)...... toby and the brussels griffon were RACING aroudn playing chase and the pug MOUNTS the little brussels griffon (who is a girl) and NOT FIXED YET and the owners just let him do it! (the pug wasnt fixed either)....... why are people so clueless???? there was one guy that brought his australian shperd into the SMALL dog park and the dog was AGRESSIVE (we left right then....... everyone did, all the time giving him dirty looks)....... well, i think this wil be the last time i go to the dog park, ive tried it three times and each time i have had a bad experience (this time was much better than the other times, but it wasnt great either) so i guess i give the dog parks (or owners i should say) a thumbs down....... i dont think i will ever be going back |
I wont go to any dog parks either. Chachi rolls on his back when a big dog comes around and Jewels hides between my legs. We have a real nice park close to us(not a dog park) that I take them to. |
Reading that makes me ever so greatful I live outside a small town! :D Wanna move Orinskye? :p |

I'm really grateful for the area we live in. I feel safe and feel like I can go just about wherever I want without having to worry. |
I cannot believe that! I can't believe owners who will not take responsibility for their pets! grrrr....that ticks me off! I hope you find a nice park for your babies with nice people and dogs! |

I understand, believe me, Orinskye. It's sad. They need a place to run and play and be free to have fun. Isn't there anything to be done about people bringing big dogs into the small dog park??? |

Orinskey - Didn't you have a similar experience at the dog park months ago? I am having flash backs of a thread not sure if posted by you or not??? This park also had a pug and a Brussels. I remember posting off that thread and making a comment regarding the Brussels.? If so, are these the same dogs and pet owners. You have more patience then I do, Id have to say something to them. (Of course smiling the entire time, hahha) Im shaking my head in confusion now, LOL. Too bad so far all your visits ther haven't been great. Toby needs a fun place to play, poor little guy and you need a better place to. It's so hard to see other pet owners not control their animals. |
These are the reasons when people want to meet up at dog parks I decline. I have not and will not take Coco to dog parks not only because I think there's way to much she can contract there, being so low to the ground, but not all owners have the same MANNERS and CONSIDERATION the way we do. So all we end up doing is ranting about our horrible experiences. Now I meet people at regular parks and there are still lots of dogs there but for some reason the owners seem more responsible at a regular park. Orinskye where are you from in California? I'm from Pleasanton, bay area. |
Ohh, that is too bad about your experience. I have never taken charlie to a dog park for one reason only. he is way too agressive-protective. i swear he thinks he the size of a rotwieler(sp?)! He will start fights with any dog, no matter the size. He is friends with only three other dogs, that he has known since he was a puppy. I hope you find a good dog park though! |
i am in mission viejo....... south orange county area |
I will take Bruce to the small and shy dog area at Magnusun Park in Seattle and I have had nothing but good experience, albeit limited ones there...I have taken him to a few parks here in Alaska but really prefer not to because there are no small dog areas and people seem to just let their dogs be wild. Bruce gets to play outside at daycare off his leash so I figure regular walks and playing "chase mommy" on the leash are good enough until we get back to Seattle! Rude dog owners are one of my biggest pet peeves and I think I would just lose it at someone if their dog marked me and they did not apologize. |
