Yorkercise ? Good morning everyone. I have a 8 month 10lb Yorkie. He not over weight and can become very lively when we don’t walk him. The weather here is getting pretty cold which brings me to this question. What are some ways I Can get him some exercise when it to cold to walk him |
Is it possible to play fetch? or something like that? I was just wondering the same thing this morning as we walk a lot. I play fetch with them alot and they play tug of war (somewhat) a lot. They are not allowed to go up and down the stairs as I have hardwood. I've seen a couple of videos of yorkies on a treadmill. :p Unfortunately I don't have that option. |
We have the same problem in the winter. We try to play with him a lot to exercise him. I have tried the treadmill thing with Carlos and he hates it. He kinda looks at me like "Why do I have to do this I never see you walking on this thing" |
I try to get mine out a few times a week by going to stores that allow dogs and walking around them. Granted it's not the same exercise as a brisk walk in the park, but it is a change of pace, it help to stimulate their cabin fever brains and they always get a lot of interaction with other shoppers. In addition to the pet stores, Home Depot & Lowes are great places because of their size and pet friendliness. |
If the temp is at least in the 30's, he should be fine walking outside. Just bundle him up and he'll enjoy it tremendously.;) |

Our dogs were losing lots of days during the winter where they couldn't get out for walks due to rain, so we bought a treadmill. Best investment we have made for them...........and us. :D |
