He needs to be in a lrge xpen or my trainer recommended buying wooden toys that he is allowed to chew on and putting bitter apple or deoderant on the areas you don't want him to chew. It is about managing their environment and enriching it as she says.lol |
I'm going to try the bitter apple and see how it goes! |
I have bought and used the bitter apple spray i THINK it has worked. I used to leav my dog out of her cage when I was at work and she would do it then, then I just started getting fed up so I put her in her cage when I'm gone. So I think it's mostly me just putting her up and away from things to chew on. She chews on my baseboards, in the middle of doors, the bottom of my couch...weird. But the bitter apple spray should work and i've heard that deoderant works too. :D |
Puppies chew, that's what they do so your only alternative is to change the environment or try suggested methods. Bitter Apple seems to be the most popular but when mine were small, they would just find something else to chew on, including antique furniture, shoes, whatever. I kept trying to find a safe chewy, and at the same time, kept my sense of humor, especially when I came home and found half a wall of wallpaper (new) pulled off the wall. I think there's a bone that is chewable but will not come apart, ask at the pet store, I want to say Nylabone or something like that. That seemed to work for mine, along with an old leather shoe. |
my dog is going on 10 months and still chewing... |
