Baby teeth Hey everyone! It looks as if my Fyo has not lost his two deciduous lower canines and the new teeth are starting to grow in behind them! I'm so upset. I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow. Does anyone have experience with this? Can it be fixed or will it pose a real problem if it can't be? :( |

Not to worry! :) Fiona lost a majority of her baby teeth except for one molor on the top- many babies have a lot of remaining decidious baby teeth, and usually when they get fixed they will pull them out! Turn that frown upside down! Your baby will be PERFECT!!!!! |
sergeant had both of his upper canine teeth growing in behind his baby ones at 6months. They eventually came out on their own 5 months later. The vet neglected to pull them when he was fixed. |

well, i hope you didnt pay full price! shame on that vet!!!!! |
For about a week Chewy had 4 lower canines! The new adult teeth grew in right beside the baby teeth. He looked pretty mean when he opened his mouth for a few days but we gave him lots of hard things to chew on and the other day I found a baby tooth in the floor! Only 3 were left down there. Then a few days later I noticed the other baby canine was gone! Now he just has the 2 adult ones on the bottom. I noticed yesterday that the same thing is happening to the top ones now. I hope the baby ones fall out as quickly as the bottom ones did. I think your baby will be fine. Chewy's little baby tooth is in my jewelry box along with my son Joey's first baby tooth! Fur baby/baby boy, they're both precious to me! |
I hope the bottom ones are called canines too! he . I'm new to all this talk about baby teeth and Yorkies! |
Darwin just had 3 of his baby teeth pulled today - between the time we scheduled the appointment and today, he lost his bottom 2 baby canines. One morning while he was yawning, my boyfriend goes "he lost his teeth!" so we both pry open his mouth and look, and for sure, they fell out on their own. Don't worry - a lot of babies go through this...my little one is currently zonked out next to me on the couch b/c he is still groggy from the anesthesia. |
Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I took Fyo to the vet and the vet said that he needs to have 4 teeth removed (there are two at the top as well that I didn't notice were not supposed to be there). I had my puppy neutered at 6 months but I guess the teeth were not out then? The vet didn't say anything about them :( I asked the vet this time, do I really have to have them removed, if it was likely they would fall out on their own, etc. The vet said he highly doubted they would. The bad part is, even when I get them removed, he said that the new teeth would not move into their proper position now...unless I got braces or something! I don't know what to do. I don't want to put him under again but the vet said that bacteria could accumulate in the pockets where his baby teeth are and that is not good... |
