must love dogs? I was walking my 7 month old Suzi yesterday evening and There was A tny Chi puppy in A neighbors driveway. This puppy did not even look like it was 2 lbs. SHe was so cute. The puppy went running over to us and Suzi was so scared  She kept running away trying to get as far away as she could. The tiny puppy wanted to play but, Suzi was terrified. I finally had to pick her up. it was a bit embarrasing to see my 7 lb Yorkie freaked out at A itty bitty baby . Suzi has been around other dogs before, and behaves the same way. Sheis terrified. But, to see her act like that with A puppy that little makes me think I am doing something wrong. Suzi loves people, and always is overly friendly with everyone. How can I get her to like other dogs? |
Your little one may never like other dogs - are you a one dog household? If so, take every opportunity to have Suzi around other dogs. I would start very slowly lby holding her around other dogs and praise and reward her when she is "brave" and makes any effort at all to be friendly. Good Luck. |
Perhaps you can have someone that come visit with a toy dog who has been very well socialize or you can go to their house, and them move on to a toy dog playdate, ones you are there just hold her up for few minutes and them put her down and see how she does. Doggy playdates have help my girls to be very sociable with other dogs:p |
Yes, Suzi is our only Dog. Thank you for the suggestions. i was thinking of signing her up in one of those puppy kindergarten classess? Or is this A bad idea since she is already terrified? |

My little guy does not like other dogs either, ive resigned to the fact that I must hold him constantly when another dog is around! My bigger guy (9lbs) however, loves ALL dogs, the bigger the better! The 175lb bull mastif at the pet store the other day... oh yeah Fletch was all over that one! Unfortunately the bull mastif was not so nice to other dogs so fletch didnt get to see him up close! haha My boys are 3 yo and have not gotten over his fear of dogs, so I don't think he ever really will. In extended visits, he will get over it if its a SMALL DOG like him, like staying with my mom for 2 weeks, he got along with her dogs after the first day (still prefers my lap though) and her dog is 4lbs! haha |
