No More Puppies - poor Bella :( It's been so long since I've had a chance to visit my favorite site. I had no idea how hard it would be to give up Bella's puppies - not just hard on us, but I didn't realize that Bella would keep looking for them. It was a wonderful experience and Bella was an amazing little mom - I just had no idea it would be like this. All the puppies were gone by September 13th and Bella looked for them every day. As the days went by, she checked fewer times but she still looked for them. I felt so bad for her. This past weekend, my sister came out and spent the whole weekend. She brought her puppy. As soon as that little one saw Bella, she ran right up to her and tried to nurse! It took Bella a few seconds to figure out what was going on, but I swear you could see the recognition in Bella's demeanor. Of course, she didn't let her nurse, but those two played all weekend! They just wore each other out. We all had such a wonderful time just watching them. I have noticed now that Bella is going back to her "old" playful self now that she doesn't have the responsibility of mothering. It's nice to see her run and do all the things she did before she got pregnant. I don't regret for a moment that we let her have a litter - I believe she enjoyed it as much as we did. I'm just not sure I'd do it again. I have attached a video of my little Bella looking for her pups. But at least now, she only checks for them about once or twice a day. As soon as the last pup was taken, I took everything out of the nursery and cleaned like a tornado in there in the hopes that their scent wouldn't keep bringing her back in there. They all have wonderful homes and all the new "puppy parents" email me with updates and pictures. It couldn't have turned out better. Again, I thank all of you for helping me through this whole process - I couldn't have done it without your help and words of encouragement. |
awwwww...I'd be the same way .....she looks so lost in the video. :( I don't think I could handle that which is just one more reason I know breeding isn't for me and never was |
Aww, poor Bella. I'm glad to hear they all got great homes, though! |
:( Aww...that's hard! |
Awww poor Bella :(.. That is why I couldnt breed any of my animals. I wouldnt be able to part with the babies and either would my kids. |
That is so sad, all my girls are spay, I'm so glad, I think I will keep them all:eek::p |
Poor Bella. She is such a beauty. I know I could not have puppies because I could not give them away. |
i know exactly how you both feel..hehe...Kandie did that one time and it drove me insane i felt so bad but after a few days she totally gave up...and you would think with each litter it would be easier and easier to let them go...trust me it's not! hehe |
Judy, Not to sound harsh...although there isn't any way around that, but based on the video, it looks as though you are the one that wants her to look everywhere for these puppies. She seems absolutely fine in the video. I wouldn't pick her up and put her purposefully in the pool that she raised her litter in like you did in the video. Take it out and be done with it. In all honesty, I think you are the one that is having the hardest time her and are creating a degree of feeling that doesn't exist in your female. She's a cute and no doubt a terrific mom. Post pics of the pups if you get a chance please! |
AWWWW that kills me! This is why I could never breed!! Poor baby girl. Hope she adjusts soon and is back to her pre baby self. |
Aww that just touched my heart. Poor bella, shes so beautiful! |
