Submissive Urination Does anyone's yorkie do this? Chloe is really bad with it. She only does it with my boyfriend and I dont know how to break it!! It's driving me crazy and I cannot stand it. Any tips? |
For some reason this is a problem more with females than males, building up their confidence is said to help. This link has some great tips: Behavior: Understanding and Modifying This is another good one: Sumissive Urination |
Thanks Nancy! |
Does she do it when she sees him like she's excited? If so, try ignoring her COMPLETELY. No eye contact, nothing until she settles down. Lily does this too  and that seems to be the only thing that works. What's more of the problem is that people just won't ignore her after we tell them to. I think she's getting better though- I'm not loving this stage at all! |
My dog does the same thing. I haven't had her for long, she is 3 yrs old. So this article has helped me also. Thanks Nancy! |
You're welcome, we had a little cocker spaniel when I was growing up who did this, and I wish we had known some of the ways to treat it. We just gave her more attention, everything from scolding to babying, and then I read that's exactly what you are not suppose to do. I think since it's happening with just one person, it should be easier to treat, if you can get him to go along with your plan. |
Alphy does when he's scared. Whenever anyone comes over he runs to my room. Last time my folks came he was sitting on my pillows and mom went to say hi. After he figured out who she was he moved but he had peed on my pillow. |

I can relate with you! When we first got Fiona that was all she would do....and as she grew she sorta grew out of it, but dont get me wrong, she still does it..... |

Like today: She had gotten a hold of a peice of paper and shredded it while I was at work. Larry came to clean up the paper, and before he could say anything to her or react in any way, she just saw him cleaning up the paper, she was already on her back and peeing all over the place. He didnt say anything to her about the paper. Infact he didnt say anything until he noticed that she was peeing. And all he said was her name. Then she started running all over the house peeing.... |
Anymore ideas? |
