It's Just Not Right! This Saturday I went with my grandmother and my cousin to their company picnic. They said that some people bring their dogs, so I of course brought Deegan. There were a few other dogs there like a pitbull, a great dane and a teeny tiny chihuahua. She couldn't have weighed more than 2 lbs, and she was full grown - she was 2 years old. The woman was carrying her in those backpack things that you wear on the front. Anyway, when I first saw her I gasped and had to go talk to the lady. While I was admiring her, I noticed that she had blue studs in her ears. Yes, - the dog was wearing studs. The woman had gotten her ears peirced! I couldn't believe it! I just said "You peirced her ears?!" And the woman just laughs and says "Yeah, isn't it cute?" I was so appauled that she would do this to that poor little baby. Why would you feel the need to peirce her ears - just for the attention - that's it! It's just not right! I was so ticked off, but I didn't say anything to her because I didn't want to start anything. I just walked away, but the look on my face must have said everything! Later I ran into a few other people talking about that "little dog with the peirced ears" and they felt the same way as I did. It's just not right! |
OMG!!!!! That is horrible. I rember a few months ago I was at Petco and I saw a woman with a Yorkie that had her ears pierce too. People sometimes go to far! :( |
I have to add that these days people often go to far. Poor little dog. Let them be little dogs, I say. They enjoy it! :p |
Poor little thing, some people will do anything! I may make some people mad, but I feel that same way when I see a little baby with pierced ears. |
I know a woman around here , she have 2 chis with double studs . She told me that the chis were the daughters that she never had and the look of her dogs is original . Needless to say that I told her that I found it very stupid . |
That's just wrong!!! I bet that poor dog is still hurting. Can't that be considered animal cruelty? I've never in my life seen one and I hope I wouldn't because it'll just crush my heart. I can't even force my Pickles to wear her topknot too long if it bothers her. How much more pierce her ears? thats beyond me! whoever gave her the idea should be ashamed of themself. |
Jimney Christmas, that lady is an idiot and I feel bad for her dog. I'll tell you something I have a piercing up at the top of my ear in the cartlidge. Having it prieced up there is very different from the fleshy part of your ear. It took literally 6 months for it to heal completely unlike the couple of weeks in your lobe. It hurt to hold the phone to my ear or lay on that side. I would imagine it would take quite a while for a dog's ear to heal too. Her vet should say something to her. |
Man o man. and i can't even find a harness because i am worried about making my Shelby uncomfortable! and shutmymouth but the only clothes she will ever wear are a shirt or sweatshirt if she seems cold. I know that isn't the YT way but it's the way I am. |
I certainly wouldn't pierce my dogs' ears but I cannot judge someone who does. I mean I am outraged at tail docking and ear clipping but it is actually "required" by the club show rules! That is what is outrageous and should be considered animal cruelty in my opinion. Ear piercing is probably no more painful than getting their vaccines. It is just not that big of a deal to me, but maybe I am wrong. I mean if these dogs are our babies and we routinely have our babies' ears pierced, then why not the dogs too. It just does not offend me. Some of us here dress our dogs and a lot of people would think that is ridiculous and not letting them "just be dogs" but I wouldn't want to hear them "judging us" like we are doing in this thread. JMHO. |
That is so not right!!! I would have had to get some little dig in to express my feelings. You are probably wiser than me to not say anything. |
diamonds I had a client who's Yorkie not only had diamond ear studs, but wore a diamond tennis bracelet as a collar with a gold heart hanging from it. After she was all groomed and perfumed, the owner would put Crystal's jewelry back on...I never let any of my girls see Crystal and her diamonds! LOL I guess I could have fooled them with cubic zironia's. |
It took me (what seemed like) forever to pierce my daughter's ears. I live in the stix where we don't see things as quick as other places, but I have to say I have NEVER seen a dog with earrings. I also hope I never do. That is soooooo mean!! |

I totally agree. I don't think that it's any different than any other accessorizing that goes on. Like Putting dogs in purses, painting toe nails, rhinestone tiaras, hair bows, grooming, at a groomers (think of the trauma there) and any other thing that is very "fashionably in" right now. (But that's just me). |
