Met My New Neighbor.....We Won't Be Friends I've never spent so much time in my back yard as I have in the last four weeks! (since bringing home Carlee). So, I never had a chance to meet the neighbors directly in back of us. But, Carlee wanted to say "Hi" to their big mix-breed by putting her head through the chain link fence, which caused me to panic for her life, not knowing that dog at all. Well, it turns out that later on that day, we were out again, and this time both dog and lady owner were out. Carlee attempts to approach the fence again, which I am now prepared and have a spray bottle on me. This lady assures me that her dog would not harm Carlee in any way and that she would gladly let her play in their yard, if Carlee were a bit bigger playmate for her dog. I was relieved to hear that and we started talking. She tells me that it's a good thing their dog is a good dog, because she'd have no qualm's in having her husband take the dog out and shoot it if they needed. I chuckled at first, thinking it was a joke, but she said, "I'm serious"!, we're not dog people". I couldn't believe what I was hearing and pretty much knew right then that I would never be friends with her. My question, why do people get dog's and feel they can dispose of them if they so choose? I say, "if your not a dog person, don't get a dog!" Sorry to ramble, but I've alway's treated my dog's as family and simply feel other's should too! |
I am with you but the law and most people do not agree with us and it is a shame! To most people animals and dogs in particular are nothing more than property. |
Did you ask her why they have the dog if they are not dog people? I'm sorry you won't be friends with them. It sucks to dislike your neighbors. |
Kim, If their dog is not a companion, I'd be very careful of your little one "sticking" its head through the fence. Why? If their dog isn't a companion, I can't imagine him being very warm and cuddly and friendly. Just be careful! ;) |
OMG. THat lady is nuts! :thumbdown |

Karen, Oh, don't worry, I watch my little one like a hawk now. I never would have thought her head would fit! We have another neighbor dog that she wants to meet also, so I've got my hands full when they're both out. |
Omg! Thats a horrible story. I can't believe one would mention a horrible thought like that. I could never respect someone with that mentality. :thumbdown |
:) I love my dogs they are my kids, but I agree with you why have dogs or animals at that if you dont like them. that not a life for a dog or cat to not have any kind af affiction :( Poor baby. I know you do but always watch your baby my god that would be horrible if any thing ever happened. :D Well I personaly got lucky my neighbor 's next door also has 2 adorable little :aimeeyork yorkies (little female about 3lbs 5ms and a boy about 6lbs and 8ms)about the same age of mine so we have lots of playdates together. My little Princess spent 2wks with them when we went on vacation and now they call her their adopted daughter she loves my neighbors. And the husband (she loves to run over to say hi.) he just spoils his girls . ps- (They are the reason I had to get a Yorkie. When they first got there little boy I fell in love I have always loved the breed but never paid so much for a dog but hubby fell in love also and decided that I could get one for my birthday. So I did I am glad my baby was worth every penny plus now I got lucky and got another just a month ago they are the best little babys.) |
