Do you prefer your furbaby with a puppy cut or grown out? Hello everyone, I was wondering what most people prefer? Chloe has always gotten the puppy cut and now I'm thinking about letting her hair grow out. I just can't seem to make up my mind. She's at that stage, that she looks like a rag muffin. Her hair is going into her eyes and she will hardly keep a bow in her hair. What do you thing?:animal-pa |
There are pros and cons to both. A puppy cut is a lot easier, no tangling, easier to keep clean. But the long hair looks so beautiful (until they mess it up!!) I try to keep my girls' bodies short (especially in summer) and let the hair on their head grow longer and try to deal only with that part being longer. |
long. I make sure I have time for her hair every day |
by the why, that is only posible if you only have one yorkie like me |
I love the puppy cut, and thought I would always love the puppy cut, but something happened and gradually I fell in love with the longer hair, seeing a Yorkie run with longer hair really convinced me, it was extraordinarily beautiful. Joey is blessed with great hair, so it was a no brainer to let it grow. If your Yorkie has silky hair, time needed on long hair is negligible. The topknot is the only thing that takes time, and that's just a few minutes. However, if you Yorkie has a cotton coat, I think the puppy coat is a much easier look to deal with. Cotton coats tend to mat, and the longer hair, would make matting more problematic, however some people whose Yorkies have cotton coats grow it out long. |
Pepper's coat does not tangle easy so I am letting it grow. I love it. |
Meeko has a cottony coat and tangles so much, so I usually keep his body short. I've been growing out the hair on his head for a few months now and like the topknot. I cut his body as short as possible over the summer because it was so hot and he was always in the pool. I think I'm going to try and grow it out for the winter, not to floor length but, longer than he's had it. I just hate dealing with tangles, you get them all out and he gets more within a few minutes of playing. |
I prefer mine in a middle of the road cut. not long to the ground nor short like a puppy cut. It just to the belly in lenght and we tend to keep the legs trimmed more like a silky do to living in the wilds of the counrty. Keeps the mud and other stuff from getting tracked in. JL |
I love the puppy cut, but I'm growing Scooter's hair out just to see how it goes once! |
I do both and like both. Chachi is in a puppy cut. Jewels is grown out. Maintaiining the puppy cut is sooooo much easier though |
I think it all depends on what evironment you live in, for me Kramer is mostly at home, but in the summer he also goes in the pool, so i cut it short, now i'm growing it in the winter. He also doesn't knot very much and I find the conditioning spray with brushing keeps his coat shiny and tangle free. Do what you feel is good for you and your yorkie. |
I keep my poodle kept in the "puppy cut".( I know its different from the yorkie puppy cut, just wanted to post. lol) I dont have a reason, I just like the cut. :) I will have to wait and see what kind of coat my new pup (yorkiepoo) will have to determine what kind of cut to use. I love the long hair on the yorkies but I can imagine that it does take alot of work to keep it tangle free. |
Can't Decide I had Bella get a Puppy cut for the summer, with it left long enough on top for a bow. I had her face squared off. She looked absolutely adorable. But the groomer (my niece) said Bella hated the clipper noise and was complerely freaked out by it . So I think I will save that for summer only and go longer for winter. The only thing is she looks a little messy if I don't put her hair up during the day. She is precious to me in any cut though :). |
Which one is the REAL Buddy? - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community Buddy's has several different ones over the years. This one is my favorite. I shave his back and keep legs, chest, tail and facial hairs longer. He is always neat and his colors are so pretty and he still looks like a Yorkie. The puppy cut is adorable and keeps them looking like puppies. I love the long hair but it's not rational for us so this is it! Try several different ones until you find the one you like. The modified schnazer cut looks great on a Yorkie as well. The little skirt around the bottom. Bud wore that for about a year until I cut it off. Post pictures when you deceide. Buddy has a silky coat. |
My Pixie has the longer coat...she luckily has very pretty silky hair..and it's not too difficult to manage most of the time..I make sure she gets brushed through morning and evening..and a quick brush after walks etc...I had some of her hair trimmed a little shorter ready for the winter months..it gets so wet and muddy round here! I love the longer yorkie coat personally..when she is running towards me with hair flying she looks so beautiful!:D |
