You have gotten some good advice from Yorkiemom1. You will need to be very, very careful as you are getting your little puppy too young and so tiny.

As we have seen very recently here at YT - these tiny, young puppies can go down very quickly. We don't want you to experience that heartache so please keep posting.

I think your little one is going to be far too young and small to be left alone for any length of time. It's good that your sister will be there. The little puppy can get dehydrated very quickly or get hypoglycemic.

Best of luck and please post photos if you get a chance.

ok thanks and how do i my breeder sent me some by my email

Mine are alone for max of 4 hours but I don't use wee wee pads. It is a personal choice. I could never leave mine cooped up for 8 hrs a day. My schedule is opposite of my parents/brother (my pet sitters).

Sounds to me you are hung with this baby....Before you get her, you need to have very important items and specific food stuffs on hand. You will need: Just Born Puppy formula....get about 6 cans. You will need baby food, chicken flavor and maybe some lamb flavor....these meats are mild and most babies love the taste. I have used Royal Canin for at leasts 25 years and never had an issue with it...there are some on here that do not like it...trust me, it will do no harm at this stage of the game, and you can get all jiggy with changing brands much later....until you can get this baby old enough and healthy, I suggest you get her on this....you will need to get the mini puppy starter...it is tiny little granules and it dissolves/rehydrates very easily to make a gruel for the baby. You also need to get some cans of the Puppy Starter Mousse....you can order all this on line from PetCo.... Walgreens: You need to get a couple bottles of Unflavored Pedialyte......You also need Karo syrup, the white (clear)... PetCo or the vet: You need a tube of Nutri-Cal or Nurti-Stat....the vet will probably have this, but they charge more for it there ....you need to get some syringes from your vet....you need 10cc syringes with an irrigation tip...NOT LEUR-LOCK tip where you screw a needle on....you just need to have these in case you end up feeding this baby by syringe. You need a heating pad, that does NOT automatically shut off after a period of time. I have one of those things that looks like a big tube sock with some kind of pellets or beans in it...you put it in the microwave and heat it up to use on your shoulders or neck....I use these for my little babies to snuggle up to when momma has been separated from them...heat it up and cover it with a piece of flannel and they love to snuggle up to it like their momma.... Be sure you have vanilla yogurt and some eggs for egg yolks if you need to do that.....You are going to set this baby up in an ex-pen 4' x 4' square....out of any drafts....you will put her bed in one corner.....if you keep the room temp warm enough, you wont need the heating pad....I hate heating pads because you can over heat them and cause dehydration....you just do not want that puppy getting cold....keep the room she is in, 78-80* with no drafts....You get all this stuff BEFORE you get the baby and then you will have what you need to keep this baby well. When do you get your baby???/

Excellent advise, I wish I had found this forum before i got my babies...Please follow this advise, she knows what she is talking about...we all want what is best for your baby. Please keep posting so we know how this baby is doing.

uggghhhh, at this point I think it is safe to say that you can't trust anything your breeder says...get your pup to a vet asap when you get her, make sure to tell her that you have no idea if what the breeder says or tells you is true..because shes a dork (for lack of a better word).

LunasMomma 05-20-2012 10:15 AM

The the OP: I bet your baby will be just fine, she will most likely sleep all day. Since it's only three days a week, she should be just fine;)

To Dajah and Chloe, OMG I can't believe that breeders are STILL letting their babies go at such a young age and small size:cry: You will have to be very vigilant with your little one, even going so far as to giving her some food in the middle of the night. I almost lost my Luna to hypoglycemia, she was 11 weeks old and 1.7lbs. Had to feed her every few hours around the clock for a bit.

I'm so glad that you found YT. There is usually someone on even in the wee hours, so please yell if you have any problems or questions. Definitely find your closest Emergency Vet Clinic and program their number into your phone in case of emergency. Also, make sure that you know exactly where it is, drive there sometime before you get the puppy so that you'll be able to find it easily if you are in a frantic state. I was taking my first Yorkie to the ER one night, and while I had seen it in passing before, it took me a few minutes to find it. In her case it wouldn't have saved her, but in your case, minutes could be the difference between life and death. It saved my Luna, me knowing exactly where the place was after that.

Welcome aboard!!!:)

There are so many knowledgeable people on here. YorkieMom1 has a lot of great advice. I got Georgie at 10 weeks and boy do I know better now. The important thing is feeding every 2-3 hours. I was home often with work so I didn't have a problem. Please keep us posted on how your baby does. Also, please be patient with sleeping at night and potty training. All of it takes time they are like newborn babies....I can say that I have had both;)

Georgie was 1lb when I brought him home so I can totally relate. I would put Nutrical on my finger and gave him that a couple times during the day. The other thing that I did was boil him plain chicken and give him that as well. He loves boiled chicken (he doesn't get it as often now) so he ate that without any issues. Purina is garbage and I wouldn't feed that period. There are several other options out there. The most important thing again is making sure she eats. Also, any sign of diarrhea or vomiting take her right to the Vet. I have seen people come here and post about it and then not do anything and their baby dies:( It's heartbreaking for that person and those of us trying to help. I don't want to scare you more I just want you and anyone else thats reading this to know it's a serious responsibility. However, Georgie is almost 7 now and is the furry love of my life:D We are all here to help and want your sweet girl to be happy and healthy;)

I'm horrible at adding pictures! But just click on the attachment icon (paper clip) and hit 'browse' to browse your computer. That's what I do.

Sometimes they are too big and you have to resize it.

Someone can help you if you have problems with it.

how much do i give her and how often of these things?

Yorkiemom1 05-21-2012 01:45 AM

If the baby is not eating like she is supposed to be eating, then you can mix up a formula using the Just Born, the egg, the yogurt, the Karo syrup and the Pedialyte. Dont mix it up now...just have it in case you need it. The puppy starter mousse is canned and very soft, especially for babies....if this baby will not eat the kibble this breeder says she is on, then you will put some of this in a saucer for her to eat....if she wont eat this from a saucer, then you will need to mix some of this and feed in a syringe.
You will progress from this to a gruel made from the Royal Canin puppy starter granules and that formula....I will tell you how to make the formula later.....Try to feed the baby like she is eating for the breeder...if she is telling the truth and that baby is eating that well, you wont have a problem....if the baby is NOT eating like the breeder says, then you will be doing the feedings, either just by hand so you can be sure she is eating, or by syringe if she wont eat for you at all. You may not need to go into all this, but if you do, you will have what you need for the baby and wont be out scurring around trying to get what you need to feed that baby to keep it from having hypoglycemic seizures. You will be feeding every 2-3 hours, if she is not eating on her own for you. Wait and see if she will eat on her own....that will be great if she does...bt if she doesnt you will have what you need to get her thru it. Keep on YT and keep us informed...if you need to PM me for specific instructions on what you need to be doing, do that....I watch the posts here and will follow you....just let us know how she is doing.....if you need to start feeding her by hand or syringe, we will be able to help you.
