Help!! Eats anything outside Ok here I am again, Baxter has a problem with eating anything and everything in the yard. Its like he never gets any food.. (Big Lie) lol. He has eaten mushrooms which I never knew we had, but now pull them so he won't get any. Then he started eating acorns, which worry me but I can't take care of all of them. Then Thursday he caught a grasshopper in mid flight, and just chomped it right down. Well Thursday night his poop was green, but normal which I contributed to the hopper lol. Well Friday Sat and Sun, he has had diarrhea, ever since. Have given him just rice and chicken, to settle things, but that didn't work, so now we are on rice, chicken, and pepto bismal. Does anyone have anyother ideas? If he isn't better by tomorrow I'm going to call the vets. Other than having the squirts every two hours all day and night, he is fine. He acts like nothing else is wrong. |
You might just go to plain white rice for a couple of meals and give the pepto. If he isn't better in the morning, I would definately go to the vet. Teaching the ''LEAVE IT" command would be an assett. It might not stop all of his forraging, but it would help. |

General Lee has the same issue, only it is not mushrooms or acorns, it is grasshoppers, any bug inside or out, fallen bird nest, dead bird, squirrel and rabbit body parts (left over from the cats), rocks, dirt, grass, ect. He is getting better at "no" before he picks it up. If he does get it into his mouth, so does my hand and fingers pulling it out. So far he has had no problems. |
Everytime we take Pepper to the park she starts eating grass once we stop walking. Telling her no and drop it doesn't help even though she is very responsive to those usually. I hope they work for you though. Good luck. |
