Our yorkie eats his biscuits strangely Hi I am new here and have a query and was just wondering if anybody could help me please? Our little yorkie Freddie eats his biscuits very strangely, he keeps going up to his bowl, picking up a biscuit, runs into the living room and throws it all over the floor before eating it. He does this a couple of times and then he will finally stand in the kitchen and eat out of his bowl properly but he will only pick out the biscuits that he likes. My auntie's friend has got one who does the same thing but I have not heard of many other yorkies doing this. Is this normal? Kind regards Shelley:) |
Hi! Welcome to YT!! :welcome4: I think they like to play with them sometimes! Especially the pups. My Juju will still run in the next room with hers sometimes. I think they are just acting happy! :D |
Yup - That's Normal ;) When mine were eating kibble, they would take one little piece and run to the other end of the house where there is a throw rug and they "needed" to be on the rug to eat that 1 piece of kibble. Then they would run back to the kitchen to get 1 more piece to run back to the rug....so funny :p |
LOL, Smoky is normal!!! He will get several pieces of his dog food and run into the living room, ON THE THROW RUG, and "fight" with it before he eats it. I just laugh at him, which makes him worse I'm sure. |
Yes, mine carries her food to the carpeted living room to eat it. Yours sounds like he's enjoying it & playing too. Whats worse is mine doesn't like whole dog biscuits, she tells me they're too big for her and that I Must bite them into little pieces for her. Yes.... I do it. ...:rolleyes:;);):p Most taste ok. Ok, a knife doesn't work cuz it breaks off too fast then they fly across the room. And my hands aren't strong enuf to break the little things. So... what else, use my teeth. LOL! (they're little biscuits too!)... Ok I'm a spoiler! |
Rory does this too! Must be a yorkie thing...she doesn't discriminate as sometimes it will be a single piece of kibble and other times an entire bone. :aimeeyork I admit I think it is so funny, and I'm sure my laughing only encourages it. Guilty as charged. I always thought it was because she didn't have a playmate - she has done it since she was very young. |
Hi Thanks everyone. I couldn't help but laugh lol. I am so glad that ours is not the only one who does it. Sometimes he bends down and barks at it and then jumps back away from it before eating it. He really is funny to watch when he is eating, I have to laugh at him. Shelley:D |
Our yorkie eats his biscuits strangely Gucci paws at his kibble like a kitten. Then he'll grab one piece, run to the rug and chew. Back and forth until he's had his fill. Sometimes he won't eat out of his dish and we line it up on the floor in front of the rug. We have an old Black Lab, Cosmo who gets the large size milk bones for his treat. We set it in Cosmo's dish and Gucci reached up (on tip toes) took the bone and raced around the house. He had us going for about 5 minutes until we trapped him in the kitchen. Wore me out! |
Too funny.... Yup, same here.....watching Garrett eat a biscuit, a kibble or any treat for that matter is VERY entertaining. He picks it up in his mouth, throws it around, flips and dances around it, paws it a couple times....then repeats the sequence a couple times! It is hilarious...:D Sometimes he'll even bark and growl at it too, or run around the house madly with it in his mouth. I figured it's a Yorkie thing! |
Oh bless lol! I know what u mean though. It wares me out just watching Freddie eat:D Shelley |
my yorkie does the same thing too! he'll grab a piece of his kibble, take it to the corner of the room and eat there, then go back to his bowl and do the same thing over. it's so funny to watch. |
