Yorkie traits Does your baby- lift a paw when cautious? sleep on the back of a couch or other high place? stick his or her bottom in the air while wagging the tail, when ready to play? steal things? And when he/she does do their eyes get really round as you chase them? My little Chibi does. And I was wondering what your little guys and girls have in common. Why? Well one day I was in park in Tokyo and I met a man with a little Yorkie girl and she lifted her paw just like my Chibi. And I thought, wow how many other Yorkies do the same thing, and how do they learn this behavior? Let's share! What does your Yorkie do? |
Fritzel uses his paws like cats do. Both of them like to lick a lot. They both like to eat grass but Fritzel really loves it. Neither one of mine gets on anything high. They will lay in my bed that's about it. They do not like to be on a couch or chair. They both steal things especially cat toys. Darla likes to chew on anything but Fritzel only chews on toys and bones. |
My baby also does the paw thing when being cautious and approaching a new toy, much like my cat does. She also raises her behind giving that very feminine curvalicious pose when being playful either with her toys or while tossing and pouncing on her one kibble before eating it. She's afraid of heights to a certain degree but has no problem going on furniture; she's just content with the seat of the couch rather than braving the top. She crazy licks and/or circles other dogs and my cat (to the point where my cat starts bopping her to slow down the face licking) as her way of playing with them, especially with the shy little ones who just lick back (mainly, it seems only the yorkies lick in play so far while the other dogs just circle and dance around with her with a few who would add barking to the game). I watched a yorkie-mix in a pet store play with its one little kibble the way my baby plays with hers, so I'm sure that it's either a yorkie trait or a little dog thing. My shih-tzu and tibetan spaniel never even once did anything like that with their food in the years I've had them. They'd just wolf it down and move on. |
My Suzi lifts her paw when she is relaxed. I think it is very cute. I take her paw and give pretend to shake her "hand" . She also is a kisser. She loves to lick people's faces, and ears. Suzi thinks that when someone comes over it is for her. She is soooo excited and demands their attention. Suzi likes to roll over and be petted on the tummy, she also sleeps on her back. Suzi likes to go on top of the couch and look out of our two story window. She barks like crazy doing so. She is very hyper at times, and also loves to play bite. Never to hurt . Suzi wants to be with my son or I at all times. She is never far away from us. :aimeeyork |
chester lifts his paw to play, get my attention, or tell me he needs water in the car. He likes to crawl up high, and he likes cat nip and acts like a cat when he cleans his paws. |
Humphrey does that thing with his paw as well. Then he'll get close, have a sniff and hop back. He doesn't run, he hops. He wags his tail when he is feeling playful, he sleeps on his back. He has this little stuffed chicken he likes to play with and he loves cuddling it, sometimes i catch him on his back with the chicken between his front legs and I wonder if that;s his version of hugging. The other day he met a giant German Shepard and he did the funniest thing ever... He went on his back, all four legs on the air and really stiff, he played dead... and when the other dog licked his tummy he moved because he is super ticklish. I though that was pretty funny. Also, he only eats if hand fed, or if I leave his food scattered on the floor. He loves hiding under the couch and he steals all my socks and takes them to bed with him. |
Definitely, especially the little butt in the air, looks so cute. I bless the day I got Suzi though as a playmate for Katie. Katie is nervous, and Suzi has brought her out of her shell. They play for hours. It's stopped raining here for the first time in two days, and they're outside and won't come in. Yorkies are stubborn too eh. Aren't Yorkies the best. Hugs Shirl x x |
All three of my dogs do the butt in the air thing, this is doggy body language for lets play! Both Mika and Nikki(staff bull terrier) use their paws in play and lick ALOT I think both of these traits are terrier things:D They both steal/hide things and lift their front paw when cautious too-more terrier traits! Mika is the only one that climbs on the back of the couch (thank goodness the other 2 are far too big:D) And both Mika and Nikki are bouncers lol, they will jump up and down for attention or at the fence if someone goes by and Nikki can leap over any baby gate and even over the extra high doggy gate (but she doesn't do this often 'cos she knows she will get shouted at) oh and they both sulk too if they are told off! I esp. love the way Mika bunny hops through long grass (Nikki does this also) its sooo cute. All in all I'd say yorkies are typical terriers or should that be terrors lol, Mika and Nikki are sooo alike in many ways even though they look so different.:D |
