Please try using the search feature, type in insurance. There are lots of opinions and lots of different kinds of insurance. It does not work like people health insurance. What's available to you as far as different plans and costs depends on where you live. Here is a good place to go for an overview of the different plans. Pet Insurance Review |
I need it but I have 2 many animals to insure it would cost me as much as my human insurance |
I have VPI and it has covered some of my vet bills but they do deny anything congenital or hereditary and any condition they had prior to their effective date. I have it on 3 of my 4. My pom was too old and I only had one dog at the time so I didn't worry so much about it. It has definately paid off for Cali, not so much for Pixie and not at all for Roxie. But I look at it as a good thing that I haven't had to use it for Roxie or much for Pixie. I really wanted it for any major emergency. |

DITTO! I have 6 dogs, only 5 would need it. My 15 year old mix already has congestive heart failure and he honestly wont be around for too much longer with us.... :( But even with 5 dogs, it would be so expensive.....I do wish I had it for Yodi, he's been through Demodex Mange, a middle ear infection with a perforated ear drum, and now he has a lump in his back that I swear to god came up overnight! So here I am researching insurance to sign up for, for him, before we go to the vet for this just in case (god forbid) it is something incredibly serious. |
Pet Insurance Would cost too much and I would rather spoil my kids with that money monthly then pay for insurance that doesn't cover everything :) |
I could afford $30 a month but in an emergency i can't come up with $2k - $5K easily hence my decision to get coverage. My insurance does cover congennital and hereditary deseases as long it does not pre-exist prior to getting the insurance. |
I have been considering insurance for my little babies, but the best I can do right now while I'm still in the out on deciding is I have $20 a week come out of my checking account and go into my savings account. Out of sight, out of mind. On top of that, I have Keep The Change (with Bank of America) so all that change goes into the same savings account. Before I know it, sometimes there is $40 a week going in there without my realizing it. It's not much (I'm just 23 working at a groom shop and petsitting), but it makes all the difference in the world right now. It's just the BIG accidents or illnesses that could come up with the $$$$ bills that make me really consider the pet insurance. Even with the savings account, should something happen and I'm stuck with a $2000 vet bill....well honestly Im screwed. I'd have to sell my car! lol |
I have pet insurance through Banfield on my Yorkie and in only 5 months, it has saved me over $600.00 dollars. I am very happy with the service and the vet. |
