Advice please :confused:So bowie got his new kibble 2 days ago and we mix it what hes been eating, He had been fine but when the new kibble was added he had a really hard time going potty and now he is gettingit stuck to his bottom. He completley freaks out, running around that house and sometimes crying until its off. Can i clip the hair around his , uhh, area??? |
yes you can. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, perhaps your vet will do it. My vets off trimmed Canyons rear end for me this morning. |
Just don't shave it or he will be scooting all over the place. :D You can cut the hair close with scissors though. |

Anal glands another possibility? Sounds like he could be needing his anal glands expressed, too. Has he ever had that done? Groomers are supposed to empty them when bathing, but vets also do it. If it gets impacted, you can have serious problems. If your dog ever scoots around, it's most likely the anal glands. As a pet stylist, I found that most people are not aware of this. Anyway, it's worth checking into. |
yep i cut that area with scissors |
I've had to do Suzi's several times she's now 4.1/2 months. Do it with scissors, but it's best to have someone hold him, while you trim his bottie. He will soon get used to it though. Hugs Shirl x x |
I have a pair of small rounded tip scissors that I use. I think I picked them up at Sally's or Petsmart for under $10. Bowie and Doodlebug are about the same age and I already had him at the groomer for the first time for a very minimal shaping. :) |
