Safe way to deter barking? Diesel has become QUITE the loud mouth. He is way too vocal. Every morning, as soon as I let him out of the kennel to go out, he first makes a round through the house barking loudly. We have 6 kids, one of them a baby that I like to sleep until the other kids are ready for school. Then, when I let him outside, he flies through the whole yard barking nonstop. He started off a couple of months ago just doing it a little, now its constant, and its absolutely driving me insane. On top of the fact that we are moving, and I don't want our new neighbors to complain, I just cannot handle his mouth. I don't know how to make him stop. If I look at him he barks. If the cat walks by him he barks. And heaven forbid the trash man come. WHAT DO I DO??!?!?!?! I love the little creep to pieces, but this has to stop. |
I don't have an answer but lately Hot Rod has been barking a lot too. Since it has been nice, I've the house opened up and there is a dog across the creek who barks alot. I think Hot Rod is barking at him. But then other times he barks at the tall grasses blowing in the wind! He has been barking quite a bit lately and it is really annoying. Then sometimes he barks out of nowhere at night while we are watching tv. Scares the daylights out of us. So I'd like to hear suggestions too. |
Me too! Me too!! I'd love to know how to stop these little twirps from barking on command. I've tried squirting them with water and I've tried the pennies in the can and neither approach works for my guys. I too will look forward to hearing what fellow YTers did with success.:) |
I can relate I have 2 that don't bark at all and one wow it takes your ears off. Now the little one is in school I will work on it. |
I just watched a segment from "Me & My Dog" that was dealing with a barking dog. She would bark at the front door...well the trainer would act like she was opening the door and when the dog would bark she would say, "quite" and move her hands in a quite command, which was crossing them in front of her like in a "No" command. Than when the dog quit barking she would praise her and give her a treat. Seemed to work. Just a thought. :) |
I found that coins in a can was a miracle to me. He's afraid of the noise. After using it for over two years today all I have to do is show him the can and he lays down and rolls over. I leave it by the front door when I leave and there's no more barking as I go down the steps because he's afraid it will shake and make noise. |
Shake a can of change at him and say no barking If you are consistant then later on all youll have to do is say no bark |
If coins in a can doesn't work and teaching the "quiet" command doesn't work, you could try a citronella spray collar. It absolutely did not work for Ellie whatsoever but some people do have success with it. |
