I tried to trim her ears this morning..... HOW did her breeder make it look so easy???:confused:She was jumping all over the place trying to run...I did manage a quick trim of her tail and booty but I couldn't get close to the tips of her ears. I don't want to hold her down and scare her but she is looking a little shaggy just on the ends of her ears...I hate to take her to the groomer for just this. Any ideas or helpful tips? I gave up because I was afraid I was going to slip and shave 1/2 her face or something! |

It helps if you place her on a counter or table. All of mine will sit patiently while I trim or shave if I've placed them on top of something. |

I too have the same problem. Canyon's got one ear that has decided to not stand, I've tried putting him up on top of the bathroom counter but he is too interested in everything up there, tried putting him on dining table, he just tries to walk off the edge. Last weekend, wrapped him in a towel like a burrito, had him on his back facing me, he's squirming to the high heavens and biting at my hand, I put toy in his mouth, that lasted for a second. I gave up. I would love to hear some suggestions. |

I don't do this by myself. My hubby always helps. We stand ours on a towel on part of our kitchen counter that's empty, so there's nothing to distract them. They don't like their feet slipping around. Having someone help you makes it a lot easier. My hubby doesn't get a death grip on them or anything. He just holds them still and pats them. I don't like getting scissors near mine without someone else there to keep them still and calm. I'm not sure how professional groomers do it. |

I find that if I really tire Gracie Ruth out first that she'll sit better for the trimmings. A long walk :dogwalk: and some fetch usually does the trick. Then just patiently working with her to accept the trimmers. A little trim, a treat, lots of praise and even more fetch if needed. She's getting better about her ears, I can do them without assistance now. But still need help for the booty area. :embarasse But it's just to help hold her still because I don't want to risk nicking her. She doesn't squirm much at all any more. |

Ha My girl is really good about sitting still for the ears but I have got to tell you, the other day I came back from town and my husband says I hope you won't be to mad at me but Prissy got poop on my pants and I couldn't get it out of her hair and it was making me sick so I cut it out. The poor babies butt is pretty chopped up but no more poop in the hair. :) The look on his face when he was showing me his pants was hilarious, Prissy didn't mind the trim at all but my poor hubby was pretty nausiated (sp). ;) |

LOL!!! It must be a guy thing. Mine will call me and tell me, Kayla's little butt needs to be cleaned. Soooooo, clean it. I ask him what he would do if I died and he had to take care of them by his self and he said he would turn the water hose on them. lol!! |

Normally he is really good with them but he said when she sat on his leg when he came home she has smushed it all in her hair, it totally grossed him out, he said he had tried to get it out but it was just to nasty, all he knew to get it out was to cut it. I asked him why he didn't put her in the bath, he didn't think of that.:) |

you got some very good advice above.. do it on the counter or somewhere higher up.. have a helper to hold your baby(hubby, bf, friend).. do it at a time when she is tired and not ready to play play play :p ..& if it is STILL too difficult, then do it in stages(maybe on ear at a time! ;)) good luck! :D |
