Please help with my puppys name! I am filling out my paper work for Akc. I need help on picking out a full name. I am awfull at this. Her first name is Amber. What would go good with that? The sire is T.T. Tobias and the Dam is Sasha Telia. Please help! Thanks, |
I'm not good at akc names either but this one popped up in my head.. Sweet Golden Amber |
Puppy name.....? I always hate that part....I would spend hours and days trying to think up just the right name......When I finally relaxed it became much easier... The AKC "full name" just has to be something no one else has named their dog I named my old yorkie "oscar" because when he was a puppy he looked like Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street....but for his Akc name I named him "Oscar My Buddy".... This little chihuahua I have is the cutest color chocolate and the breeder had already been calling her Apple...so I kept Apple. I also have a BIG retired greyhound racer and I thought the big dog could eat Apple in one bite....so the name...."Chocolate covered Apple Snack" I love that one!!! Just dream up some thing cute...like if your kids (or a family member) has said something cute with their name.... |
I don't want to steal this thread but this is the same topic. I need to do the same -- figure out a name for the registration of Carter. The sire is Diamond Heads Sir Lance Alot and the dam is Trevor's Quintonice Abbigail. I'm drawing blanks on this. My husband calls him Carter Roy sometimes. I just don't know!!! Thanks for any suggestions you may have. |
I sure wish I could of some help on the "full name" idea's, I am horrible with names. I sure like "Sweet Golden Amber" (especially since the yorkies get such a golden color (amber) to them and well they are oh so sweet. I also like the name that Carter's Mom picked out as Carter Roy, sounds so "strong" Schatzie's registered name is "Schatzie's Golden Dreamer" and when I had Half-Pint before she passed away her registered name was "Lazy M's Special Dreamer, Half-Pint" This name came from the breeder's kennel name. Sometimes if you are fond with the breeder they will allow you to use their name with the registration name of your dog. Best of luck to both Amber's and Carter's Mom for picking out a registration name to be happy with... |
Fun! Just grab a piece of paper and have fun playing with it. It doesn't have to make any sense and you don't have to use the parent names. Do remember the guidelines for how many letters you can use and if you wanted to use the kennel name of the breeder you have to have permission from them. Some of the show dogs have names that have no connection with their call name. I work in a elementary school library. The name I used for my maltese was inspired by an award winning childrens book titled Snowflake Bentley, it won the Caldecott medal that is awarded each year for the art work in childrens literature. My husband is an artitst so that kind of seemed fitting. The book is biography about a man named Wilson Bentley whom was the first to photograph a snowflake. Photography is a hobby of mine so that was also a neat connection. And of course maltese are white so it just kind of all fell together. Then I added Renoir to the name because of art and it's a form of our last name Reno. His akc named is "Renoir's Snowflake Bentley" Mia's name is Renoir's MiaBella Blue. The meaning of Mia is "mine" and Bella means "beautiful" and the Blue is of course the color of the yorkie hair. So I thought it a perfect name for her. You have a good name to start the groundwork with..I bet you come up with something really nice. |

How about Miss Sassy Amber. I think the Sassy part fits all our yorkies. haha |
Archie's mother was Diane Lil and his father was Angel's Bill Bailey, so his full name is Archibald Lil Bailey. But, yeah, play around with it and you'll come up with something that fits your yorkie's personality. |
This was something I put on the back burner, but after reading your posts I was motivated to come up with an "official" name for my little princess. We call her Chloe and she has over a dozen nicknames, but her official name is now "Cuckoo for Chloe Puffs". Can't wait to hear everyone elses. |
Don't know what your first or last name is but you could use one of those and then Use Forever Amber...like "Denyel's Forever Amber" Forever Amber is the title of a book..I haven't read it or even know what it's about but for some reason the title popped into my head...that tends to happen when you work in a library..you think of books! :-) But it would make a pretty name. |

Oscar's Mom |
I think "Sir Carter Roy Of Thibodaux" sounds awesome...Definatley sounds like royalty.... :D |
I love that!!!!! Thanks Oscar's mom! |
Oh I love the suggestion for Carter's name! Very royal indeed! Luca Dean's official name is McKelvey's Elephant Memory. We are Bama fans, and the Alabama mascot is an elephant. We also wanted our name in there, and then Luca Dean proved to have this awesome memory about where everything is in the house, so that's how we came to ours. |
lucynfred: I see a rivalry brewing here! Carter in his LSU attire and Luca Dean in Bama attire! http://www.lneal.com/familylsu/bama/ These are the pics I took on the sidelines during last year's game in Tiger Stadium! ;) |

ROLLLLL TIDE! You're outnumbered, Carter's Mom. Bettyanne's a Bama Fan too! Now I have an excuse to buy the Bama tee they have at the petstore!!! I'll post pics soon! Oscar's mom, I'm in T-Town!!! Where are you? My fiance's from Tuscumbia (Florence area) and we visit often!!?? Carter's Mom, I'll concede y'all have better seafood ... I'm drooling thinking about the Acme, Bayona, Uglesich's, et. al. in Nawlens!! |
GREAT photos, Carter's Mom!!! We have some wonderful friends who live in Monroe, LA and if you scratch them, I swear they bleed purple!! We have a great "friendly rivalry" with them! However .... I do have to join Oscar's Mom and lucynfred in support of our Crimson Tide ..... soooooo ..... Roll Tide!!! ... and that's all I have to say about that!!! ;) |
Oh, yeah ..... forgot about that seafood!! Yep! you have it all over us for seafood!! ;) Also, forgot about the other six friends who are all from Baton Rouge .... all of 'em really big LSU fans!!! |

If I decide to visit my daughter in NC early this summer and drive instead of fly, I'll let you both know that I'm coming through! It would be nice to have a get together for anyone in the area . . . . Alabama, northeastern Georgia, southeastern Tennessee! The best party (next to Mardi Gras) is an LSU tailgate party! I can taste it now . . . bacon-wrapped shrimp kabobs on the pit! ;) |

Hi everyone, I'm new to YorkieTalk, and I'm enjoying your conversations so far. I'm facing the same dilemma in coming up with a unique name for Sophie (my sister is her mom). We'll most likely include part of her sire's name which appears almost all the way down the line in his pedigree, and we'd like to keep that going. But...we haven't yet decided on what to add to it. It takes some imagination. I'm always amazed at the names of dogs that compete in dog shows. They're really clever. |
