Thin hair on puppy ?
 

I was just wondering if my puppy who is almost 6 mths old and 1.10lbs. if his hair will grow as it is very sparse and is very short and not at all long. Also when I got him a month ago he had Coccidia,Ear Mites,Low Blood Sugar,Kennel Cough,was malnurished and last but not least had Pneumonia so I have since got him healthy. I am just wondering if his hair will ever look normal. I am also feeding him a very healthy premium puppy food. He has no hair on his tummy as it is very smooth and soft and his hair when i got him had a few really long scraggly pieces next to almost bald spots,so I trimmed it all short so he would look better and feel better,but it is really thin. Does anyone think it will fill in??? I have had him in good health now for about a week,maybe this will make a difference.

My Chloe had really thin hair. Once I got her started on good dog food she filled in some. It is no where as thick as all my others. Her hair really started getting better when the winter started coming on last year! It should get better.

Wow poor baby! He's had so many illnesses that this deffinately could be the reason why his hair is not as healthy. Give him some time to get his system completely normal. If you just got him a month ago,it's not enough time.
When I got my last yorkie he was already healthy but his hair was also really thin around his legs and around his belly area. His hair seemed brittle also. I bathed him once a week,fed him 2-3 times a day and always have fresh water down all day.Once he got to about 10 months old I noticed his hair around his legs was growing thicker and stronger.

Give it some time. I use Mane N Tail Shampoo and Conditioner

Mine has thin hair but not from being sick ..... give it some time and I am sure it will grow in ..... you could also ask the Vet what is going on with the hair .... maybe they can give you something for it ....

This is one of the biggest problem with puppy mill pups.. They buy cheap dogs that should never be bred or reg for sale as yorkshires, then mass breed them. Many have so many issues as you have described..Did you turn the breeder in as a puppy mill???? I don't care if they have 2 dogs if they are not in good health or being fed right you should have turned them in..I've seen dogs people have paid good money for the same way... Ugh! Many look like that little mexican dog with hair stuck to them.. I had someone bring a yorkshire to me a few weeks ago trying to give it to me.. I felt it's coat and it was straight but really wirery.. I've never felt a coat like that before. He didn't have much hair on his legs either and no hair on ears.. I love the puffy faces with tons of hair..I've been breeding my line for over 24yrs.. They are hairy..:) I don't ask huge prices for my dogs either and many live well into their teens..You have to have good genetics for dogs to be living 15 to 19 yrs.. Not many people even have them that long that are breeding.. get references or do more research on line as to a healthy dog and what they should look like as pups... LOOK AT THE PARENTS.. IF THEY HAVE NO HAIR YOUR PUP WILL GROW UP HAVING NO HAIR... Good luck with your little guy as he needs you so much.. so sad though... Feed him good and I would add vitamines and goats milk to his diet, scrambled eggs.. Also I found Purina moist and meaty dog food dose make a coat look better...But I guess you have to have one to do so...:(
