Is Someone Trying To Scam Me? Hi guys, Awhile back I placed an ad for a yorkie in the Australian post.Since I live in hawaii that's the only place I can buy one without it having to stay in quarantine. To make a long story short, yesterday I got an email from this lady offering me a yorkie at a price of $526.She said she is a license breeder from Cameroon.Which I googled and found out it was in Africa.I remember reading a thread here awhile back about a scam targeting us here in the US but I don't remember the country. I was thinking that's really cheap and she said that it included the airfare, crate, paperwork and vet check. Also has a lifetime guarantee against genetic defects. Do you think this is a scam? She also sent pictures and if I wanted it to be registered with the akc that it would cost an extra $26.My friend saw the picture and she wants it but I'm still kind of iffy. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help |
I wouldn't bite on it! Don't you have any yorkies in HI? :) Or are they really expensive? |
i remember reading a post here or somewhere else, (pretty sure it was here) that those people in cameroon were scammers. if i find the post i'll let you know. |
Yorkies are still really rare here, once listed it's sold out in less than 2 days. Also it's around $2000 and it usually have australian registry.I already have my babies.I posted that ad almost a year ago so I guess it's still there for them to find me. |

It sounds kinda shady. I wouldn't do it but if you feel like you can pass up on this offer than call this lady and ask any and all questions that come to your mind and ask for references and be straight out tell her you think she is rying to scam you and ask what she can do to prove otherwise. :thumbdown |

You guys been a great help,I'll let my friend know. Thanks again |
No doubt about it....it is definetly a scam. It is such a shame that so many out there are starting their mornings knowing they are totally intending to cheat, lie, and rip someone off. Not to mention setting them up for a heartache. It is getting to be more and more every day. I just had a guy try to scam me yesterday. Do some cross referencing. I went to google and typed in all the info. he gave me yesterday seperately. 100% a scam! I played along like I didn't catch on and asked what type of payment he would need....he actually had the nerve to request Western Union...a sure sign of a scam. The "Scammers School" must be packed! This is the 2nd time someone has tried to scam me. |
Let me see - she's either a missionary or a nun, right? When I placed an ad for a yorkie, I got the same thing, day after day, it got very personal too. It's a scam with a capital S! |
I would go with my gut, and my gut says not to trust them one bit. First of all that is way to cheap to be able to pay for airfare, etc and incuding the dog itself. And yes, I do remember reading an article about Cameroon also. Don't do it and please encourage your friend to look elsewhere. |
I reported the scammer yesterday to the website they were listing with. Gave as much info. from the emails as possible. I JUST got an email from the website stating they have put them on a "scammer list" and then they send emails to everyone that responded to that person to beware that it is a scam. They also told me that they removed all of his posts for selling dogs which were Havenese, Maltese and Yorkies. So if you went through something like "Terrific Pets" notify them and they will check it out. |

guarantee ( for her advertising but if it's not in writing it's not worth a thing) Here's what this lady did to her poor dogs and their owners http://www.hollybellemaltese.com/index2.html |
Also Hollybelle was getting $2000 a pup. I think if there is ANY Possible way, pick up your pup. |
