I am praying for you and everyone in N.O. I can't believe you have to go through this again. Unfortunately these are very tense months for those of us that have to go through hurricanes every year it seems. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I can't even imagine what you are going through. Keep us posted and stay safe :animal36 |
Praying for everyone in the path of this hurricane, please stay safe. My brother, his wife and son are in LA. I'm pretty stuck to the TV and praying right now, so if I'm not in much, please understand. |
Take care and be safe...:) |
I have the news on and am watching it.. it will stay on nght and day now.. and I am praying for ya all... I know there are a few members from the area that will or could be hit... this has to be so scary... I am sure you will be ok.. We have an rv so we really have not need for motels.. which I like.. lots of good advice here for you tho.. anne |
Prayers and hugs going your way. As an experienced evacuee, without pets, make sure you have and inportant documents..papers, like home deeds, home, auto and life insurance policies, pet records, credit card information. Special heirloom items...photos, computer backup information, anything that you can't replace. Leave early enough that you are ahead of the others. We waited too long to get on the road when we had to evacuate. It took 12 hours for us to drive 60 miles, then the traffic thinned out. Get your babies favorite toys, blankets and beds. Enough to make them feel at home. Please keep us posted. Be careful...stay safe. |
Austin is one of the Texas cities that hosts evacuees from the coast, we do it every time there is an evacuation. There are a large number of hotels here that normally do not allow pets but are making exceptions due to the circumstances. As long as you take toys, leashes, pee pads, food, and thier beds, I am sure your babies will be fine. You may also want to take poop bags so you can clean up after them once you walk them. Good luck....and if anyone is heading to Austin and bringing your furbaby, PM me and we can set up some play days for the furbabies. |
I went to visit a friend who is staying at a local hotel tonight and when he was checking in, there were a large number of evacuees checking in as well. People are leaving early and I am glad they are coming to Austin to be safe, it is much better than risking all at the coast. If anyone is heading this way, please PM me and I will do my best to help in any way possible. |
I am in South Louisiana also... we are in Baton Rouge and are VERY on edge over this! i do not have to evacuate and actually have friends here from New Orleans but we already have tornado WARNINGS! My oldest daughter is across town from me and I am freaking, that is where the tornado is... I pray, that they are right, tht this storm dies down before it gets to us... we had the most beautiful day today.. the evil calm before the storm... Bless anyone in the path of this beast! d |
We're in a hotel in Trinity, near Huntsville. Going to sit up tonight watching the news. We drove 3 hours north from home (Port Arthur/Groves) and the cone shows it going thu La straight up tp where we are..guess we'll tie our panties in a knot and hang on. |
Sending Prayers to everyone out there .... and be safe !!! |
its still on top of us...this storm My puppies came 3am this morning after all the wrong anticipation signs and dates... it is kinda scary listening to the wind.. we decided to bunker down. I don't remember Moma panting as much last time after whelping... She is fed they arm wam, I cut the warming pad on in cycles on low heat... she doesnt seem hot.... so I wonder why she is panting so much? |

Prayers for your family... First off, you and everyone facing Gustov are in my thoughts and prayers!!!! Next, When I travel I always take a collapsable crate or you can use the Bathroom, Puppy piddle pads, bottled water, their food, their toys etc. I take the crate so if the maid comes in she doesn't accidently let the dogs out. I'm afraid they'll get out of the room and get hit by a car or stolen... Praying all will be well with your home when you return, Good-Luck... Blessings...:aimeeyork Baron and his Mom |
My parents are in Lafayette, just north of New Iberia. They are not in danger of flooding, the the wind can do a lot of damage. They have boarded up their windows, and have decided to stay put. So far so good. |
Back home! Hey everyone, I just got home to Louisiana with my family, and we are all okay! We had a LOT of trees/branches fall in our yard, but luckily none hit our house. PHEW! Our house did not have electricity for 5 days! Luckily we weren't there. We left Sunday night and got back today around 4pm. We stayed in Forrest City, Arkansas in a Best Western til Wednesday, then Thursday we went to Jackson, Mississippi and stayed in another Best Western. The first was pet friendly, the other was not, but they made an exception for evacuees. That was very nice of them! The babies hated it, got so tired of being cooped up in the car, even though we pulled over every hour to walk around and potty. And trying to walk them outside the hotel, forget about it! They did NOT want to potty out there. I know it had to be because of the new area, crazy car rides, and mass confusion. When we went out and ate, we left them in the bathroom with a baby gate in the doorway with their beds, toys, pee pads, and blankets inside (with the do not disturb sign on the door). We only had to do that once, but as we left we heard them crying :( Neither hotels charged us a pet-fee, and no one complained. We're sooo glad to be home, and I'm so glad the babies have their yard again! We have all utilities except cable, and there is no major damage to our home. We were very lucky and I'm very glad we decided to evacuate. Our area got hit hard, so I'm really glad we did leave. The only annoyance I have to say, was my mom's friend who lives in New Orleans came with us, and she just kept trying to take control of my babies! Well I went out of the hotel to grab something to eat downstairs, and when I come back she tells me she has bathed Cookie in the bathtub(no telling how hot/cold the water was) with HER people shampoo! I said, Why didn't you ask me first??? I HAVE puppy shampoo. She said, Well she stunk so she needed a bath. :eek:I really had to compose myself, I just thought that was so extremely pushy, and I HAD her shampoo! If she had just asked I could have given her the puppy shampoo- but nooooo. :thumbdown I had to explain to her that Cookie has a small dry-skin condition and can't be bathed often (I had just bathed her before we left) and needs a special hypo-allergenic shampoo. She didn't get it. She did some other things under my nose, like walking the babies in the cold rain, and spraying them with her perfume :thumbdown That was an annoyance, seeing as how she apparently has never owned any pet before, but now we're home and things are getting back to normal. Thanks everyone for their advice and prayers!! We are so glad to be safe and home. :) I really appreciate the advice, the only bad thing was getting them to potty outside of the hotel or at a rest stop. Poor babies.. But we are all fine and safe :) |
I'm glad you made it home and things weren't any worse than they were when you got there. Having power is a blessing we don't miss until we don't have it.:) |
I am very glad to hear that you made it home safe! and LUCKY you, with power... I got desparate and plugged the internet into the generator tonite.. lol... we didnt have much damage but STILL no power.... Just please pray, NO IKE!!!!!!! d |
The Eye hit us directly!!! Hi all, I live in Bourg, LA 12 miles from the coast & 2 miles from Houma, LA. Yes the eye of the Hurricane hit us. We evacuated to a Caddo Lake Cabin in Uncertain, Texas. (west of Shreveport, LA) with 5 Yorkies & Lexi is pregnant and is due on the 14th in one week. Hurricane Ike is heading straight for us now!!! We got home yesterday to No Electricity, No Running Water, No Sewage & No Phone service & Barely Cell Phone service!!! We now have everything back but Electricity - Rumors are 3 weeks or more!!! We are trying our best to not crack under pressure. This has to be the most stressful time of my life worring about Lexi in her last 2 weeks of pregnancy. Stormy & Kylee have been fighting like cats & dogs since we left a week ago. The 3 youngest get car sick - my Vet recommended no food or water 10 hrs before leaving & give them Benidryl. only one vomited on the way to Texas. We had to bring Lexi to Marshall Animal Hospital Friday for her X-rays - 5 puppies - he said she should not have a problem with the pups sizes. Our Home weather the Hurricane very well. We lost shingles, facia board, vinyl boxing, parts of our wooden fence, 2 trees, parts of the swimming pool deck. The house was suppossed to be going on the Real Estate market last week - so we can start building our new house. OH Well - more delays!!! |
