New to Yorkie Talk
 

Hey everyone, I just joined the site today but I've had my Yorkie for a year now. He'll be two March 4th. At the time when I got him my parents only wanted one dog, but now we're saying that we should have had two. I know it's never too late to get another Yorkie but I don't know how Pippin would adjust to another dog in the house. He's kind of a bully (Not in a mean way) he likes to knock over smaller dogs, and try and climb over them. I'd love to have another Yorkie, but I think Pippin would get jealous cause he gets all my attention.

Anyways I know I'm rambling, my point was to come on here and introduce myself. My name is Kelly and I'm 20 years old and I am a first time Yorkie owner. I got him when he was a week shy of 2 months old. We pretty much do everything together, I tried to crate train him so he'd sleep in his kennel at night but I couldn't handle the crying all night, it broke my heart so he's been sleeping with me in my bed ever since he was 2 1/2 months old. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.

Thanks. I've only been here about half a day if that and I love it already. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I couldn't handle him crying all night, I think I got him a little two young. He was only about 7 1/2 weeks old when I got him. I had to pick him up at the airport but my breeder assured me that he was ready to go. He was so small, I couldn't get over how tiny he was. He didn't have to fly alone though. A friend of mine was buying a puppy from a breeder who was good friends with my breeder so we split the shipping cost and our puppies shared a crate.

Pippin was 7 1/2 weeks old when I got him, he's a year old now haha. I probably should have pointed that out somewhere. Yea he turned 1 March 4th 2008. I threw him a birthday party but didn't make him a cake. He got a special homecooked meal instead. Chicken and Carrots are his favorite. Except I can't feed him chicken or beef anymore because according to the vet he's allergic to it. His Lamb and Rice formula has a chicken by product in it and we've tried him on a couple different foods and a hypoallergenic formula and he refuses to eat it. Well, he at the hypoallergenic food for a couple of days but it made him constipated so he's just eating his regular lamb and rice formula now, any suggestions on what to try so he's not scratching all the time.

I found out on here that "irfanview" is great for resizing. You can go to IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide and download it for free. I also read on here that 640x480 is the best size to use.

Hi Kelly and Welcome to Yorkie Talk. We got Bernie and little brother when he was about 5 months old. I took Bernie with me to meet the little brother, and when I saw that Bernie like him we decided to take him. Then the breeder let me bring him home for a few days before I paid her. That made the decision much easier. I didn't crate either of mine. I couldn't handle the crying either. They both sleep with us and sleep through the night!

I'd love to have another Yorkie, but I know Pippin would get jealous. Pippin slept in his kennel/crate whatever you call it for a night, but I didn't get much sleep because I was scared that he was going to get into things in my room. I left his kennel door open and he'd come out to potty and I'd put him back in and usually there was a toy in there that he's naw on until he fell asleep. His second night at home he wouldn't stay in his crate at all so I took him in the bed with me and he'd sleep right on my chest all snuggled under my blankets. He's been holding it through the night since he was 2 1/2 months old.

He was really easy to house break only took about two months to finally get it down that he needed to go potty outside and not inside. The first time he peed outside we gave him a treat and every time after that for a couple of days. We were taking him outside every couple of hours but one day he started going to sit by our front door when he wanted to go out so we'd let him out and he'd do his business and come back in, he won't use pee pads anymore he thinks he's better then that. When we go out we used to baby gate him in a certain area of the house but now he's got free roam of the house we just make sure every door is closed. He gets excited when we come home or when someone comes to the house and he'll pee, but only a little sprinkle. All in all he's a good dog and I love him to pieces, I even love his attitude and his personality, he fits in really well with me and my family.

Sorry for the long post. When it comes to Pippin I can go on for hours.

Hi Kelly, Welcome to YT ! Pippin sounds adorable. My Suzi was born on 3/3 2008. She is close to being exactly a yr. younger then your boy .
I know what you mean about talking about your Yorkie. I love Suzi so much too, and always want to talk about her. she is so funny, and always makes me smile at all her antics.
