Hi, I am a hobby breeder and am now ready to enter the world of show dogs as I really want to better the breed and hopefully produce the perfect little yorkie one day. My web page is Welcome to our Yorkie Family | in case you are interested. I am showing my 7 month old little stud in 2 weeks and I could use some advise. This is my very first show for him and me. What is the most important thing to remember to be successful. I am going to attend handling classes twice before the show and am on my own this time around. Thank goodness I have a handler that will take him on for the following three show. Help! I could use advise. Are there any web sites that are useful ?:animal36 | Sounds like you are already on the right track by going to handling classes and putting him with a handler. I remember my first show. Talk about butterflies! Just remember to stay calm(haha) and arrive EARLY!!!!!!!!! There is nothing worse than putting the finishing touches on the dog seconds before you go into the ring. Watch the judge. See what gaiting pattern he/she uses and how he/she is with the dogs. Also, get your equipment and car ready the night before you go to the show. Make a check list of what you need and mark it off as you put it in the car.(paper towles, lead, brush, comb, bows, towels, grooming supplies, crate, wheels, etc) Arrive early to have time to park and walk to ringside. Best of luck!! |
