Anyone heard of DOG SPAWS? do it yourself dog wash?
 

I couldn't believe it myself. We live in a small town. We have an new automatic car wash where you put money in and wash your car.

Not too innovative most towns have them.. BUT They have added a state of the art Laundry mat which I must say if I had to go to the laundry mat That would be the one I would choose it is very clean and there is an attendant there at all times.

THE funny thing is they have added this seperate area called "DOG SPAWS"
It costs,, 5.00 and there is a great washing tub and a gentle hose with not too strong spray. It has different cycles with shampoo, rinse, conditioner, extra rinses and flea shampoo and dip. Also a dryer. Blah blah blah...

I was there today to Check it out. Just because I was curious. There was a girl there using it on a small little black dog. He seemed to be doing just fine.

The girl did say that she brings her own shampoo and conditioner and rinses. But she uses it all the time. THere is disinfectant there to use between times and the attendant says that she is careful to clean it each time. But that patrons are free to clean it themselves too before use.

The thing I was hoping for was a place to hang a "noose" so that he doesn't get away. Cooper isn't as keen as that black dog was. I didn'[t see this but I may have missed it. There is vending machines with all kinds of treats and things.

I thought it was a great innovation for someone who has a large dog and wants to bathe them themselves. Or can't afford to take them to a groomer.
I am not sure I will use it because of health reasons but I sure thought it was interesting and wondered if anyone in bigger cities has seen this?

We don't have one here in our small town but my son who lives in San Francisco takes his large dog to one.

I've seen them before. I think it's a great idea; especially if you have a large dog. I would think it'd be especially beneficial in the Winter.

There are/were several in the Dallas area. I haven't been by them in quite awhile, so I'm not sure they are still around, but they always seemed to have people in there washing their dogs. The one even did volunteer work with a rescue organization. They'd take and wash and groom dogs that the rescue had picked up.

I live in fair size city and we too have the same thing, a great idea i would imagine for larger dogs.

I used to use on my dog cocoa. She was a about 25 pounds, but a hassle to give a bath too.. it would literally take two of us since she would jump out of the tub every chance she could, I saw it once when i was washing my car and gave it a try. The one near here had an a long leash type thing that you would attach to her collar and the side would raise up so she couldn't jump out. It just made baths in between groomings so much easier! plus i liked the built in dryer. lol

We have a store called, "pet food center" here that has a place to give your dog a bath, in the back of the store. It's really just big sinks with spray hoses, nothing as fancy as what you've described.

I wondered about the health issues, because what I saw here didn't look as clean as what you described. I might use it for Misty, our Golden, but Abby and Daisy are easy enough to wash in the bath tub...still pretty cool though :)

We have a place called Hot Dawg! in our city. It is a place to bathe, groom and pamper your small or large dog. They clean up after each dog. Everything is furnished for caring for your dog. Small dogs cost $ll and large dogs are $l5. They too have a complete line of doggy items in their store. I still prefer to bathe my yorkies in the kitchen sink. If I had a large dog I might consider using that facility.

Yep, there's a couple places in my area that offer this service, though I've never used them. I prefer to bathe them in the tub :D

The car washes out here have them. My husband really got a kick out of it as we had never seen them until we moved here. It actually makes sense for people who hunt or are out with the dogs. Get the truck done and get the dog washed before you head home!:) I actually saw a line of pet waiting to take their turn and it was early spring and still pretty chilly outside.
