Prayers for Addi Please We take Addi to be spayed (and have baby teeth removed) tomorrow (Friday). I have to have her to the vets about 8:oo am. It has taken us quite awhile to work up the courage to have this surgery. The whole family is worried about her. She has really never been away from us and gets really nervous in strange surroundings. I can just picture her shaking in her cage tomorrow night. Can I hear some happy endings from others who have had their babies spayed? |
Well My female did shake when we brought her home. She did fine for the surgery though. She was back to her normal self the next day. |
Not to worry! Addi will be fine and all the healthier for it in years to come. You're doing the right thing. Sometimes they act a little 'drunk' when they come home, but they quickly bounce back. Just do as the vet says, and try to keep Addi from feeling too good too soon. Sometimes they want to be more active than they should be. |
Aw. Don't you worry hon. She is going to be just fine. I went through the same thing with Gracie a couple of months ago and let me tell you I was a nervous wreck. Just think how happy she is going to be when you go pick her up Saturday. ;) I will keep her in my toughts and prayers. |
I will keep Addi in my thoughts. Coco is going into surgery next Friday :( I'm also worried, I know how you feel, but I've heard everyone's positive stories. |
I'm sure she will be fine... I had my first baby spayed many, many years ago, and she put up such a fight when they anesthesized (sp?), that he told me to come pick her up that afternoon instead of the next day. She came through it just fine. When I had my boy neutered (plus 8 teeth pulled) they kept him til the next afternoon, and then told me to keep him quiet for a day or too. When I called that afternoon after his surgery to check on him, the girl said he should have been sleeping, but he was sitting up, wide awake and looking around. Your baby will do just fine, and will be very happy to see you when you pick her up. Maybe you could send her blanket or toy or something from home... Let us know how she is doing! |
I will also keep Coco in my prayers. Can anyone tell me what they act like when you bring them home? I just wondered how long we would have to be careful about her jumping and hurting her stitches. How long until your babies were back to normal? I'm sure the vet will go over this but I'd like to hear from experienced Moms and Dads. Thanks. I can't sleep tonight. I think I will stay up and clean the house a little (as much as I hate to clean, it should keep me busy). Thanks everyone! |
Your baby will be fine. Does she absolutely have to stay the night? If so, ask that she be given pain meds and a warming device so she will be all comfy cozy. I have been doing this so long, my vets let me bring my baby home..but they really are better off in the hosp, toget the fluids they need. They sometimes will not eat at home and it worries us mommies so. Have you talked with your vet about her bloodwork and the type of anesthesia? The thing here is to find out what you can and then trust your vet. If your baby has to have teeth extracted tell them to save them for you. We will think abot you and Addi tomorrow. You will have all week-end with her..she will bounce right back by the next day.. |
Will be thinking about you, probebley have to do the same thing with my Rosi next month....not looking forward to it either, allmost want to weasel out...:( |
We took her in for her pre-op bloodwork today and everything looked good. Thanks to Yorkietalk, we knew many questions to ask. I wish we could bring her home tomorrow, but she will probably be better off in the hospital than with a paranoid family. |
They'll take good care of her. It's normal to feel the way you do. I've been through it numerous times over the years and I can tell you it doesn't get any easier. She will sleep through the night anyway, because she will still be groggy. I'll be thinking of her and waiting to hear from you after you bring her home. :) |
We will keep her in our prayers and I am sure she will be fine. Anyways good luck and I wish her a speedy recovery. |
Will be thinking of your Addi tomorrow. The bounce back so fast, I think it is harder on us, because we love our furbabies so very much. I would make sure that someone stays there at night or bring her home so you can take care of her. I have always brought my furbaby home that night and they just slept all night, I know this because I didn't sleep lol. |
Will someone be there with her overnight? Can you bring her bed? I didn't think they had to stay overnight anymore, but I guess it is different in different areas. I am sure your vet knows best. She will be fine. Don't worry. |
We took her to the vets office about 8:15 this morning. They let her keep her favorite blue bear with her. They said they would call as soon as she was out of surgery and there was even a possibility that she might get to come home tonight. I hope they let her come home because no one stays in their office at night and I would like to keep an eye on her. |
