Yorkies Toes First of all I'm new here, and glad I found this site. I have a question about my Yorkies toes. On one of his back feet he's missing a toe. I've had him for just under a year and love him absolutely to death. I have the papers on his mother and father but was just curious to see if anyone has ever heard of something like this. I'll try and get some pictures up of it soon. Thanks in advance for everyones input. |
Yeah!! Another Texan!! :p Welcome to YT. Please tell us more about yourself and your wee little one. Missing a toe as in it appears he was born without one, or something happened to it after birth. Can you ask the person you got him from? And just to clarify, you aren't talking about the dew claws, right? |
Well, I'm 23, lived in or around Mesquite my whole life, now I work for the city. My family has always owned German Shephard Dogs and I've always sworn by them, and pretty much completely disliked anything under 60 pounds. So now I've fallen in love with this little guy. My mom always wanted a Yorkie, and now I see why. Buddy (Marks Whiskey Buddy AKC) has been one of the best dogs I've ever owned. He's very intelligent and loving. I really couldn'y be any more happy with another small dog. I'm in the process of emailing the breeders right now. See if they've had any issues like this in the past or recently. It doesn't seem to effect his play or lifestyle, he's very outgoing and runs around like crazy. |
It is most probably the dew claw you are missing. It is common practice in the US to dock tails and remove dew claws of Yorkies. |
Welcome to YT!! MY brother and SIL live in Mesquite, and I am just north of ya'll!! |

Hi and Welcome to YT! I would also agree that is probably just a dew claw you are referring to |
I'm not totally sure but I think it's definitely not the dew claw. Isn't the dew claw usually up a little just on top of the first joint in the foot? On one foot he's good, has all his little toes, but one the other foot he's minus one, and it's on the pad of his foot. Thanks everyone for your warm welcome and the information. |
