Advice needed for Yorkie in hot weather. We are going to Palm Springs Ca this weekend. I think the temp will range from 105-115. We are staying in a house that has air, but I am sure there will be a lot of lounging outside and in the Pool. Bobby wont like being stuck in the house with all of us outside. Any advice on keeping him cool? I bought him a little pool, but he doesn't like being wet and wont stay in it. I also have a little portable house, that has vents on all sides. but I imagine it will get pretty hot in there, but at least he will be out of the direct sun. |
Provide water to drink and a shaded spot, Joey seems to tolerate the heat better than I do. Remember concrete can get awfully hot as well as blacktop, so carry or protect feet in some way. If it's too hot for your bare feet it's too hot for theirs. |
You may still need to keep him indoors, for his safety. Even in the shade those temperatures can be deadly to dogs. :aimeeyork |
None of mine go out except for in the early morning and late evening. They are ready to come in after only 15 minutes!! Tounges are dragging the ground. Its just too hot!! It doesnt take long for these little guys to overheat, even in the shade and even with misters on. Its best to leave them in the air conditioned house. |
I've seen these little cooling pads you can buy for dogs to lay down on... not sure where I've seen them though! I'll do a search for you. |
