Are they serious??? I took my 4 kids to the pet store last night to show them a what a yorkie looks like, they have been begging for a shi-poo (sp??) They had a very cute little 9 week old boy yorkie. He was so adorable. His sale price was $1299, original was $1899!!! What makes a yorkie more expensive than the next? I will not buy from the pet store, still looking for a breeder in my area. Still learning all I can. Can anyone tell what the difference is between a yorkie and a silky terrior, other than silkies (sp?) get a bit bigger. Do they have similiar personalities? Also, are yorkies known to have any health problems? The little one last night was just so cute. The kids were arguing over what to name him, even though they knew we were not taking him home. My 5 year old son suggested tinkle bell, because the poor pup kept peeing on him. |
Hi there! I know, Pet Store charge an arm and a leg for puppies! That makes me so mad considering the whole puppy mill deal. When I was looking for my little guy, The most expesive breeder that I spoke too wanted $1700 for one of her puppies, but the majority of them were asking $1000 -$1500. Which you would be better off to pay that than get it from a pet store. But yes, please don't buy from there or a mill. Your best bet is a breeder. And yes, yorkies are known to have some potential health problems. I'm sure that some breeders on here can help you with that, but I would also reading a few books on Yorkies. I got the "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies" book. Since I was a newbie to the breed, it's pretty easy to understand and intersting to read, and to keep on file. I got it at PetSmart. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with the search to find your perfect happy & healthy puppy to join your family! |
Hello and welcome! I would not look at the petshop yorkies they come from puppymills and can have health problems. Plus you can find one probably cheaper by going with a breeder. I ma not familar with silkys to know the differences. Good luck with your search. |
